I saw Dr. Vandenberg for a routine eye examine and was incredibly impressed with the level of care and attention he gave during my visit. I spent very little time in the waiting room, he made sure the entire patient experience was efficient and easy to navigate from beginning to end. He was very knowledgeable and gave me great advice that was catered to the unique set of eye issues I was experiencing. I would absolutely recommend visiting the eye associates and requesting to see Dr. Vandenberg for all of your eye care needs!
My experience at Eye Associates today was excellent! Dr. Vandenberg did a thorough exam and fully explained the results to my wife and me. He's very knowledgeable and he has a calm demeanor. He answered our questions and spent as much time with us as we needed. When there were alternatives to consider, he laid out the options clearly so we could choose the one that works best for us. He guided us through scenarios, but he made sure we knew it was our decision to make. We highly recommend Dr. Vandenberg. The staff at Eye Associates is terrific! The technicians Nikki and Tiffany were pleasant and professional. Nikki took her time as she did various tests and measurements, eye charts, checked eye pressure, and dilated my eyes -- before I saw the Doctor. Tiffany worked with Dr. Vandenberg and made sure we fully understood the follow-up steps after he completed the exam. Tiffany and Nikki were very thorough and explained everything clearly. The optician (Crystal) was fantastic! She took time with us and fully explained options that were available to us. She understands insurance plans and showed us prices for various choices as well as the pros and cons of each option. She made it easy for us to make a decision that works best for us. We highly recommend Eye Associates and we encourage everyone to have your vision checked regularly. Don't neglect your eyes.
My first experience with this place was relatively positive. However, over time, I started getting the feeling that I was just a revenue stream. The beginning of the end happened when, out of the blue, I was informed that I have cataracts. I had not complained about this they just told me I had them and should get them taken care of. At first I agreed then, after thinking about it for awhile, I thought that since I am not experiencing any negative effects that I will skip the cataract surgery. The straw that broke the camels back stems from me stopping by about a year after having completely replacing all of my lenses on 4 pairs of glasses (about $1,800 just for lenses) to have them replace the lenses on my bifocals due to a scratch on the lens. I was told I needed to get an eye exam. When I stated that if the prescription changes I do not want to replace all of my lenses again a year after having replaced them. I was told I would not have to replace them all. This really sounded illogical to me but I went ahead and did the exam and, sure enough, they said the prescription had changed slightly. So, they ordered the new lenses and I waited. When they finally arrived I went in to pick up my glasses and immediately I told them that there is something wrong with the right lens, i.e., I could not see clearly. I was told to wear them awhile and maybe I'll get used to them. Well, I didn't. Because I have another pair of just distance glasses I resorted to those in order to watch TV. Anyway, since I had a follow-up appointment today, when I went in I told them I just wanted my original prescription put back in my frames. The technician left for a few minutes then came back and told be that they will do another exam today but that they would not put my original good prescription back in my frames. My reply to that was "Well then, we're done here. I'll put the original damaged lenses back in the frames then, when it's time to get an exam to replace all of my lenses then I'll go to another practice and all of my glasses would then be in alignment." So, the bottom line is, I received substandard work and service from this establishment and will never do business with them again and DO NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone. Patronize them at your own risk.
My 84 yr old Mother is very happy with the atmosphere of the office & the how friendly & kind the office staff are as well as how detailed, calm & compassionate the testing technicians are. She loves her Optometrist & truly trusts his information & advice. This is very important to me as her daughter & caregiver. I am grateful for her care she always receives at her appointments.
