I had an excellent experience with Dr. Johnson. After years of difficulty finding contact lenses that work well for daily wear, she recommended a pair that fits comfortably and performs reliably. Dr. Johnson was patient, thorough, and kind, and she showed genuine concern for my eye health. The staff were friendly as well with a spotless and comfortable environment. I will definitely be returning in the future!

I’ve been looking for an eye care space where I didn’t feel like a number and where the optometrists took the time to help me choose contacts and glasses that not only fit, but also answered my questions about available options. I was in the waiting room of another local optometrist, who kept me waiting for 75 minutes, when my sister texted and suggested I try The Vision Store in Bernalillo. I called while I was still in that waiting room, and they offered to see me the next day. When I arrived, they greeted me by name and gave me a short tour of their office, showing me their modern, state of the art equipment. They then took me to a room where they had a small welcome gift bag waiting and offered me a snack and cold water while I filled out paperwork. My appointment started just a few minutes later, and both the techs and the doctor took their time to make sure my dry, red eyes were treated and that I felt comfortable with every step of the process. It was by far the best eye care experience I’ve ever had, and I’m thankful that my sister suggested I make the switch. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a more personalized, welcoming experience, especially if you’ve been frustrated with long wait times or rushed appointments.
The doctors were kind but they all just seem like they want to bill you the most they can. I’ve been wearing contacts for 18 years and they charged me for a level 4 fitting which amounted to $110 just for the fitting. When I called and asked they said their practice only does level 4 fittings. (Which normally level 4 would be for a more complicated case. I liked the contact brand I got and everything fit fine the first time around) Then upon leaving they charged me for 4 contact boxes and which I didn’t ask for nor did I receive. Nobody mentioned to me ahead of time about charging me for contacts preemptively. I called to ask about the charge and they said they billed me ahead of time because if everything works out with the contacts they will order them. I asked them to refund that until I actually get my prescription and they did. I still didn’t have my prescription in hand because they make you come back for a follow up. I think a follow up for a contact user of many many years is unnecessary and a waste of time. I just think the billing was very sneaky and just trying to bill you as much as they can. I came here due to the good reviews but don’t intend on coming back next year.
Most of that staff was excellent and very helpful. Was referred here through the Veterans administration and that process was smooth But.... I didn't take kindly to be talked to like a child during my visit by the optometrist.. you are an eye doctor, your job isn't to berate customers that they need to quit smoking( you are an eye doctor!) and we dont need to be told about your post card 5 times during an eye appointment. Save the baby talk for the children and toddlers it is degrading to talk to grown adults this way, especially to do this to veterans...
I was visiting from out of town and needed urgent care for my eyes. I got in 2 hours later and walked into a beautifully modern optical center with all the latest technology. Every staff member treated me so kindly and professionally- really above and beyond. The doctor was so warm and friendly and beyond professional and knowledgeable. If I lived here, they would be my vision care for sure.
