Thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. That's the team at Seal Beach Eyes Optometry. Dr. Hill performs a thorough exam and offers explanations that go far beyond a simple summary of your eye health. Jamie's patience in helping choose the right eyewear is very appreciated, as is her work navigating insurance options to make sure no benefits go unused. The whole team is friendly from start to finish. I came to Seal Beach Eyes after growing frustrated with other optometry shops and their pressure to sell glasses right after the exam. Other places didn't seem to hear what I wanted. Conversations felt impersonal and full of aggressive upsell phrases. Jamie is different: she actually recognizes style and helps you find yours, paying attention to your feedback and the features of your face. You leave with glasses you don't regret buying. Over the past couple of years, between my family's needs and my own, I've also experienced what happens when something isn't made right. Mistakes happen, and unfortunately too many companies don't take ownership and make it right for the customer. Seal Beach Eyes did. Impressive from start to finish. Highly recommend.

I had the BEST experience here. I developed a sudden, large blurry floater on July 3, and I was worried about my retina. My ophthalmologist was closed, so I began calling around because I did not want to go to the ER. I called probably 5-6 places and they were either closed or the doctors were not there that day. Finally, about 11:00, I reached Total Vision, and they said to come in at noon. The staff was so nice right from the start, even though they were working while most other offices were closed. They also said their Corporate Office got the day off, but they didn't. They had the BEST attitude about it. No one was mad about working that day. The PA, Charlie, was so sweet, and she said, "We're in health care, it's what we do! Besides, we are glad we can be here for you today so you didn't have to go to the ER!" Dr. Dao was also extremely nice and attentive. He, too, said he had no issues with working that day and that he loves his job. Honestly, if I didn't already like my ophthalmologist, I would drive further to go to this office. Thank you all!

I honestly hate leaving negative reviews because the front desk staff here were genuinely very sweet and professional, and the office itself had a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, my interaction with the woman doing the eye exams, Charlie, completely changed the experience for me. I accidentally mixed up the Seal Beach and Long Beach locations when booking. Once I realized on my GPS, I immediately called to let them know I’d be about 10–15 minutes late. I apologized multiple times and even offered to reschedule, but the employee on the phone reassured me it was completely fine and told me to still come in. When I arrived, I was sitting in the lobby filling out paperwork when Charlie came out and loudly said multiple times that she would “rather take the patient that was on time,” making it obvious she was referring to me. It was embarrassing and honestly unnecessary, especially after I had already called ahead and offered to reschedule. When she later called me back for the exam, I calmly asked if there was an issue with me being late and again offered to reschedule. Instead of acknowledging how it came across, she became defensive and started rambling. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable continuing the appointment, so I decided to leave. What really confirmed everything for me was that after I walked out and came back in to ask for her name, I overheard her loudly saying, “I wasn’t being rude.” Clearly the situation was already being discussed the second I left. Instead of accountability, the immediate reaction was defensiveness. And honestly, if conversations about patients are already happening loudly in the lobby, it makes me uncomfortable thinking about how patients may be spoken about behind closed doors. What’s really unfortunate is that I waited a week for this appointment. Patients should feel comfortable and respected during medical appointments, not embarrassed in front of a waiting room.

Dr. Dao is great but the rest of the office seems to have fallen apart since Total Vision took over. I’ve dealt with incorrect orders and incorrect billing on multiple visits. Each time they expect me to pay for their mistakes. Also some of their staff don’t seem to care to be there. One of their staff outright lied to me about a billing credit that didn’t exist and acted bored while they were supposed to be helping my son choose frames.

Jamie was amazing, she helped me with everything and I’m definitely coming back because of her.
