Vantage Eye Center

My experience at Vantage eye was very pleasant. The female assistants were friendly and professional. I look forward to seeing Dr. Richardson on my 6 month visits. Dr.Richardson is friendly, informative, and very knowledgeable. He is also is positive and has a fine sense of humor, which I appreciate.

When arriving i waited 15 minutes to head to the back mondo you my appointment was at 2:30pm and got seen by 245pm. anyways the doctor was fine and friendly. answering all my question. when it was time to check out, i wanted to be seen by optician. she gave the reception a no i don’t want to do it and the receptionist told you you are the only one there. that was one red flag. like dang if you didn’t wanted to help me maybe you shouldn’t be doing this field. i felt uncomfortable with her and discourage because i knew she didn’t wanted to help me.all i wanted was a quote but next time ill do better and go somewhere else to do my glasses because it seem like a bother to her. I have worked in that field and never once i felt disrespected like that. Wish they do something about it, but i know they wont. Hope they talk to her about her attitude and not be so disrespectful. I left feeling unwelcome. i will just do my exams there and buy glasses somewhere else. don’t want to be a bother to that ungrateful optician.

This morning, April 13, 2026,I had an 8:30 appointment at Vantage Eye Center, Ryan Ranch Monterey with Dr. Zachary Richardson. I’ve been a patient there for about 7 years and today the office opened at 8:00 and I arrived at self check-in by 8:25 for my 8:30 appointment. An assistant called my name and moved me to an office for a check in by 8:45, then I was moved to a waiting room, and finally by 9:10 I arrived in the room where Dr. Richardson was to examine me. Another 20 minutes passed, now 60 minutes total without an update or apology. Feeling disrespected and ignored during this hour's wait, I left the examining room and returned to the front desk asking for a refund of my co-pay. The front receptionist was quick and helpful. This morning I left Vantage Eye Care frustrated and disappointed because I not only wasted a vacation day morning, I lost out on the appointment I waited a month for, and I lost faith in an eye center I really liked. When I have been in Dr. Richardson’s care, he has been attentive and excellent at his job, however, a 60 minute wait without any notice or update is without question excessive, so he will no longer be my glaucoma doctor. I hope this office improves their scheduling practices and customer care.

I can give the Ryan Ranch location a 4, but the Cass Ave location a 1 for a lost/dropped/never entered appointment that I had on my calendar for a year. Subsequently, I was transferred to Ryan Ranch after already appearing at my scheduled Cass appointment.

Got an appointment a day after I called! Very happy with the results. Had an eye infection and it cleared up in about a week with the medication prescribed. Good follow-up by the doctor. Would recommend!
