I came here for the first time and had a terrible experience with Dr. Utley. The exam felt extremely rushed, and I was in and out so quickly that it genuinely concerned me. It did not feel like I received a full, thorough eye exam or that enough time was taken to properly make sure the prescription would be right for me. She gave me a new -2.00 prescription, but after the visit I came back to explain that something didn’t feel right with it. While talking with the doctor during my exam, I mistakenly said I thought my old prescription was -1.75, even though it actually wasn’t. The office then had me try on a -1.75 prescription to compare, which made me think my vision had suddenly gotten much worse and that maybe I just needed time to adjust. When I got home, I checked my current contacts and realized that my previous prescription — the prescription I had already been wearing before this appointment — was actually -2.75, not -1.75 like I mistakenly thought. I brought my contacts back to the office to show them, and instead of re-examining me, the doctor signed off on a new -2.75 prescription through the receptionist. The receptionist explained that the doctor said the -2.75 prescription was “too strong” for me, but she would sign off on it anyway without giving me another exam to determine my correct glasses prescription or to see if that contact prescription was even right for me. I never saw the original doctor again after the first appointment — not when I came back explaining that the contacts didn’t feel right, and not when I returned with my old prescription information. Since this was my first eye appointment alone, I started thinking maybe I was overreacting. After explaining everything to my parents, they were immediately concerned and came back with me. I was very thankful that the office agreed to schedule me for a re-examination, but when we returned it felt somewhat passive aggressive, almost like the situation was somehow my fault as a patient. Thankfully, I was scheduled with Dr. Natalie Ogle for the re-examination, and it ended up being the best eye doctor experience I’ve ever had. She was phenomenal — professional, thorough, and reassuring. She performed multiple vision tests and assessments that the first doctor never did. I came in nervous and blaming myself, but she made me feel heard and taken seriously while helping me advocate for my vision. My script for contacts did end up being -2.75. If you visit this office, I highly recommend requesting Dr. Ogle. I’m only giving this office 3.5 stars because of Dr. Ogle. I would personally give her 5 stars, but without her experience and professionalism, my overall experience would have been 1 star.
Dr Emily Ryan and the staff up front down to the building or exceptionally professional and courteous and very helpful. It was a pleasurable experience as I do not like to get glasses but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. You have a nice selection of frames. The doctor's honest and the staff is very helpful.
Great place, associates, Dr. Natalie was very friendly. The ONLY complaint I had was my husand and I both had appointments, he took off work early to drive us both. His original appointment was 1:45 & mine was at 2. But I received 1 reminder text with the original time, the next 4 texts i got said we had been rescheduled to 2 and 2:15. I HAD to be seen, the doctor had to leave right after my appointment. We are pretty laid back and understand these things happen. I didn't like the man's tone at all telling me that, " Actually, your husband's appointment was at 1:45 " I didn't think of it at the time, but should have gotten my phone out and showed him my reminder texts but with the doctor needing to leave, I knew there was nothing that could be done. My husband last half a day's work, but sometimes things happen beyond our control,. Other than that man, every other employee was so friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Natalie was so nice and did everything she could to save us money because I have a difficult prescription, the lady that helped with my frames and checked me out was fantastic! When we left, I felt happy, satisfied, and like I mattered as a customer! Thank you! 😁
I was very impressed by the large amount of choices of frames. Although I was a walk-in I was offered a cancellation and while selecting frames another cancellation offered a quicker exam. I was surprised and pleased to learn that my previous optometrist, Dr Ryan, was now an employee and very pleased with my thorough exam! When asked, the staff were very helpful to voice an opinion on my choice of frames, the employee measuring the frames was great and I appreciated the discount very much! I will highly recommend Vision Works to my family and friends!
