The optomistrist comes off as very friendly, but she is most definatley a wolf in sheeps clothing. She is the worst kind of "nice" person becuase she'll smile to your face and stab you in the back. All of their frames are 100% marked up. After a quick search, I found the same lenses online a various websites for $120-150, while they charge $260.00. She is price gouging her customers and its quite sad and obvious. I understand that you have to make a living but this business practices absorbent price mark-ups. Their stance is, "you have insurance so we're going to rip you off". After considering all other options such as purchasing the glasses (they had the pair that worked best for me) elsewhere, we decided it would be the least headache just to purchase the lenses and frames through them. When we returned, we were told by Oneida that we would have to pay $66 each more because my exam was on a different day. We were not advised that this would be the case before leaving to look at other options on the day of our exam. Overall a very poor experience and will advise all others to stay very far away from this outfit. It's unfortunate because I haven't needed glasses up to this point and have had a terrible experience with this company.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been getting glasses for 40 years. I have never seen price-gauging and the run around like I did with this place. While the optometrist seems nice while doing the exam, it's because she knows she is up-pricing every frame and service she is providing. After the exam, my husband and I both found frames that we liked, but realized they were more than twice the amount here than anywhere else (simple google search) so we told the person in charge of frames Oneida, that we were going to look elsewhere and see what we could find, if we couldn't find them anywhere else, we'd be back. At NO point did she say, well if you leave today and don't purchase glasses today from us, you will have to pay $66 more any other day because we cannot coordinate your services. After trying to purchase them out of network, we realized it was just a a little more to purchase them with Visual Eyes in network so we made another appointment (BTW you can only go in at 9am or 1pm if just getting glasses and not an exam). When we returned, the first thing she said to us was it was going to be $66 more than before. She was well aware of that because she wrote it on the pricing sheet she gave us (it says COB and as a layperson when it comes to glasses I shouldn't know what that means and I expect they give us al pertinent information up front). At no point, did she try to make it right or ask if we wanted to speak to the optometrist. They simply don't care. As long as they are getting your money, it's all they care about. My son got 3 pairs of glasses somewhere else for $150. My ONE pair was going to cost close to $200, same for my husband. VSP has a range that they can charge for each service. Wouldn't you know they charge the HIGHEST for each service and their frames are marked up over 100%, Save yourself, time and a headache, go somewhere else where they are up front about all costs and helpful. Not sneaky and deceitful. We like to support small businesses but we will never go back there and will refer all of our friends and community members ANYWHERE else.
My experience going here has always been great. The entry door is a bit like a speak-easy, but that's something that I find humor in. The doctor has always greated me warmly and professionally, and seems to really enjoy her job.
We brought our 4 year old daughter to get checked out and right away they prescribed her a strong prescription. My Daughter stated it was blurry and didn't want to wear the glasses. I waited and went to another office and got her tested and the results were completely different. I'm glad i didn't make her wear these glasses, as they could have damaged her vision. When we went to get the lenses replaced with the new prescription they didn't want to correct their mistake and instead tried to say her vision must have gotten better since she wore the glasses (Which she never wore). I wouldn't recommend taking your family here, they just want your money.
10/25/2024 Optometrist recommended progressive lenses. Picked up glasses on 11/6/2024. During pickup tried on glasses and used as directed to try out upper and lower lease areas to use the progressive function of the lenses. I explained to employee that they were not working and when trying to use lower section of lense for reading that it was blurry. I was told “you have to get used to them”. After trying as instructed same issue reoccured. I went in person and was told they could replace progressive lenses with single vision lenses. Great, however the additional 198.00 dollars that I spent for the progressive lenses would not be refunded. In what world is it ok to be charged for something you are not getting? The progressive lenses that the optometrist recommended did not work and they will not refund the additional money I spent for these lenses. Shame on them. Additionally, the front desk clerk “Valerie” has always been very snooty/uppity with her demeanor and communication style. My family and I will not be returning to this optometrist and I highly recommend not using this optometrist.
