I made the comment to the eye center manager that she squinches her nose a lot when trying to focus or read something. That it was a bad look for the manager to have such poor fitting glasses. She agreed and so did one of the other girls working the department. This was my first experience with a Walmart eye center. The doctor was great, the process was easy, the glass selection surprised me, they weren’t particularly cheap, which made me feel like I was paying for quality. But now that I have been living with the progressive set I got, for well over a month now, I get why the manager squints so much with her set, now I do it. It’s not how they fit, it’s how narrow the ‘sweet spot’ is to be able to read something. I went back in and tried to get them to remake the right lens and they refused, said that’s just the way they are. I’ve had several sets from other retailers and none had this issue. I’m one and done, this is my first and last set of Walmart lenses.

This is an anomaly for me because I am typically not a fan of Walmart, but that is not a conversation for today. What I am excited to share is my first experience at the Walmart Eye Center in Durango, Colorado, where I had new prescription lenses put into my glasses. From the moment I walked in, Liz stood out. She was professional, courteous, and carried a genuine sense of calm and positivity that immediately set the tone. Throughout the entire process, she was exceptional. Her communication was clear, confident, and effective, and her approach was thoughtful and patient without ever feeling forced or scripted. What impressed me most was how naturally she balanced professionalism with a personal touch. She made what is typically a routine errand feel like a well-managed, high-quality experience. That does not happen by accident. That comes from someone who takes pride in their work. I would not consider myself a typical fan of this type of setting, but because of Liz, I walked away with a completely different impression of the center. That shift is entirely due to her. I hope leadership within Walmart recognizes individuals like Liz. She clearly takes pride in what she does, and it shows in every interaction. Experiences like this are what build trust and change perceptions.
I went in planning on buying a little glasses repair kit for a screw that had popped out of the frame, but Roxanne helped me right away and fixed my glasses right there in just a couple minutes and even cleaned them! Super friendly and helpful!
Roxanne is wonderful. She helped me narrow down a pair of glasses with patience and care. Would absolutely come back thanks to her!
Our daughter’s glasses broke, a lost screw, but our repair kit didn’t have one that fit. Roxanne in the vision center was able to find a screw which fit (it was an odd size apparently), and fixed the glasses free of charge.
