Dr. Sandra Shona Hou’s office demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and respect for patients’ time. Arriving over an hour late to a scheduled appointment while staff repeatedly attempted to reach her reflects poor leadership and a disorganized practice. In healthcare, accountability and reliability are not optional they are expected. As a veteran, I found this experience particularly disappointing. I would strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

UPDATE: Increased rating - Issue resolved after 7 months of dealing with VSP insurance, BCBS insurance, Walmart Vision Center and Walmart Corporate Customer Service to resolve overcharge issue. Warning: The Troy Walmart Vision center will quote you a price after checking insurance, copay is paid at time of order and then they will send you a bill for almost double quoted price. No price transparency. Recently, when ordering glasses, they provide price and copay amount, we paid copay at time of order and then they send us invoices for for double and triple the amount stating that insurance didn't pay full amount. Very frustrating experience with no price transparency even though they checked insurance prior to ordering.
As far as quick and easy getting your eyes checked, in a Walmart is probably your go to. The space itself is located right in front so there's no wondering thru the whole store to get to your destination however you are presented with the chaos of a Walmart parking lot. The store is brightly lit and has a pretty good selection but I think the Rochester hills store has a slightly bigger one. The doctor herself is thorough and has a pleasant demeanor but the two women running the front end of the store, although polite enough appear to be laboring thru the day like a death row prisoner's in there final hours. After talking with them some they opened up alitte and you'll find they are just abit introverted and pleasant in a subdued kind of way. With that being said, my daughter is always happy with her exam (to reiterate, the doctor is great) and she loves her glasses and despite any negatives I mentioned we would still return for the doctor alone.
I get an excellent value on frames and lenses, they take my insurance no problem, and I get excellent service and treatment from their optical staff and the optometrist.
This location is very unprofessional in my opinion. The doctor ended up being a half hour late to even arriving for my appointment.. she then was rude & made me feel rushed when she even admitted to having a bad day. However there's ways to going about having bad days & not taking it out on the patients.. everytime I have called to ask questions about my prescription or past appointments, I'm met with the same kind of short/cold attitudes that usually leaves me questioning why I even continue to try with this location. No more. I'll take my business elsewhere. Good riddance.
