I’ve seen optometrists in four countries, and this was the worst experience I’ve had by far. The doctor was friendly, but the exam itself was unreasonably uncomfortable. The doctor spent an extended amount of time using bright lights to exam my chemically dilated eyes; more time than the last few optometrists I’ve been to combined. More concerning, despite the prolonged ophthalmoscopy, a serious issue was missed. Six months later, I visited another clinic and they immediately identified a retinal tear with signs it had been present for some time. This was not caught during my visit here and the delayed treatment may lead to complications. The prescription I received from Waukee Eye Care was also off by a full diopter in one eye and half in the other. The glasses I ordered based on it were blurry and unwearable, leaving me stuck with my old glasses for another six months until I went elsewhere. I was initially content leaving no review at all, but my recent checkup elsewhere showed me the importance of a regular exam with accurate results.
