The doctor here is wonderful. Extremely thorough and very knowledgeable. What keeps this from being 5 stars is their prices. The lenses are just insanely priced and I never leave without paying less than $500 out of pocket even with insurance which is just kind of insane. No lenses for reading glasses should cost $800. Will probably keep me from coming back next year which is a shame.

Wonderful Dr and Optician & staff. The Dr takes her time to really get the fittings of the contact correct creating a special bond of community and service. Christopher has taken the time to choose frames that are both eloquent, yet sassy with a classic dare. Lol, if you wear the frames you will receive lots of compliments. Chris is like the classic man who is the neighbor you want to invite to the barbecue or pool party. The feeling and experience(s) are both rich, yet very west coast, perhaps Westside with a splash of coreponeus for color enhancement in 5D.
I came in because I was experiencing burning and blurred vision. I went to the emergency room prior and they weren’t much help. I saw that Westside Eye Center had 5 stars so I decided to call. They got me in the same day on short notice. Come to find out, I had a chemical burn to my cornea due to eyelash products. She gave me the proper medication, also did an eye test since I wanted to see if I needed glasses. Dr Ortiz was patient, calming and reassured me my eyes would be better. I recommend her to everyone.
The space is modern and beautifully designed! The front desk staff was very pleasant both in person and on the phone when I called to make a same day appointment. Dr. Ortiz is one of the nicest doctors I’ve met. She takes her time and explains the entire process and will answer any questions. There was little to no wait time and they don’t try to force you to buy anything or make any quick decisions like larger optometrists. I highly recommend!
All the reviews of Dr. Ortiz being a fantastic doctor are accurate and I would recommend this facility! I just think if you have an anxiety disorder like me it might be good to have someone with you to speak up on your behalf so she knows what you want. I had trouble insisting on discussing the option of daily contacts. I didn’t get that type prescribed last time so I went a year without ordering contacts. Then this appt I said I’d like to price compare them and she said they’d be twice as expensive. I was too anxious to explain I only wanted to wear them once a week and if it would be more cost effective to get them so I just got the 2-weeks she offered but they’re sitting in my cabinet expiring after one use. I was sad about the contacts but thought maybe I could have them replace the lenses in my favorite Ray-Ban frames. I asked my partner to run home and bring them back to the office after my appt. When I brought them in Dr. Ortiz was in the lobby and she explained they looked too fragile to handle lens insertion. She said she could ask store manager Chris, who was sitting right behind her, but again, that she thought they wouldn’t work. I obviously cared a lot about the glasses and I wished for the customer service to go above and beyond and for her to have just asked him if there was anything to be done instead of putting it on me. I obviously trust her opinion and didn’t want to insult her by saying I would appreciate him looking, too, as if I didn’t believe her. But the glasses meant a lot to me and it would have been nice if she just took an extra minute to turn around and ask the person in the same room as her if there was anything they could do… I feel bad I had my partner go get them just for the store manager to not even look at them. Anyways… I know if I spoke up in both instances they would have helped me. It’s just hard for me so I wish I’d had my partner come inside to help me advocate for myself.
