I was originally referred here by the hospital ER. I was so impressed with the doctors and all of the staff. They were very sympathetic and concerned with my eye issues and were able to diagnose and get treatment for me. My husband and I are both switching to Yealy Eye Care for future visits. Brought my daughter here to get her eye exam and glasses. We paid everything in full and she received her glasses. Everyone at the office was nice, until I get a bill in the mail for all the charges that were paid. I contact the billing office and they tell me I need to contact the office directly.. no one can get it figured out. Every time I call the office someone picks up and tells me to hold on and then sends me to a voicemail! I have proof of payment and yet no one can see the payment? Sounds funny to me. Extortion is what I see going on here. I’ll be contacting the attorney general office next.
The eye exam was great. The communications, customer service, and quality of glasses and fit, just horrible. Be prepared to go in to the store in order to talk to anyone. Don't be surprised by the poor attitude. My glasses came back from the "lab" unusable. I asked to have them fixed urgently. It took over a week, and I repeatedly asked to speak with the store manager and never got a call back... and no response to text messages. Maybe other stores are better. I don't think they billed my insurance either. Just astounding how this place stays in business.
Here’s a stronger version that includes the lack of follow-up from management: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Mr. Yealy was wonderful and very helpful with both of my girls. He even made an exception to see my 6-year-old, which I truly appreciated. He is kind, compassionate, and genuinely cares about his patients. Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff has been extremely disappointing. I agree with many of the other reviews regarding the lack of communication and misinformation. After my daughters’ eye exams, the staff member at the front desk told me she would order both pairs of glasses and that all I would owe was the copay. She handed me both prescriptions and said I will get a call in 3 weeks when they arrive!! At no point was I ever told that the copays had to be paid before the glasses could be ordered. I was standing in the office and would have gladly paid that day if someone had simply informed me. I waited over four weeks before calling to check on the status, only to learn that the glasses had never been ordered because the copays had not been paid. I then called and made a payment over the phone, believing I was paying for both of my daughters. I explained to the staff it was both girls and I was highly disappointed that no one contacted me in regards to me so called not paying the copays! Instead, the payment was only applied to one child, and no one explained that to me. Another four weeks passed before I was notified that one daughter’s glasses were ready. When I called about my younger daughter’s glasses, I was told they still had not been ordered because the copay had not been paid. Ridiculous!!!! My 6-year-old has been experiencing headaches for quite some time, and the doctor expressed concern during her eye exam. It is incredibly frustrating that her glasses have been delayed for months because of repeated communication failures. To make matters worse, I asked to have a manager contact me regarding these issues. I was told someone would reach out, but over a week has passed, and I have yet to receive a phone call. That level of customer service is unacceptable. Mr. Yealy deserves five stars for the care he provides. Unfortunately, the front office staff and management have made what should have been a simple process unnecessarily stressful. I sincerely hope they improve their communication and follow-through so other families do not have the same experience. I am requesting my copay for the one glasses be refunded since I went elsewhere for services! Vision works did not give me this much trouble.
I recently had my first eye exam at Yealy Eye Care and it was great experience! Dr.Gaughan was a wonderful provider! The only reason for the 4 stars is because I’ve had difficultly reaching a receptionist and my phone calls always go to voicemail with no response.
