The experience was good and would have been excellent and 5 stars except for Hayley who tested me and was the 1st contact. I am a RN since 1985 and get along with people easily. This person is in the wrong job. I cannot see well or drive. She was unpleasant and it felt accusatory. It was early so cannot attribute it to a bad day. It was unpleasant enough to mention it. I don't give some one a bad review. All the rest of the staff were pleasant and nice. Perhaps someone can mentor her. Or perhaps she can work behind the scenes. Either way, I hope not to see her again.
If I could give ten stars I would. Interacting with the Abrams team is phenomenal. A huge shoutout to Dr. Polhamus who took time outside of working hours to see me with a quasi-serious eye situation. Her kind and cheery personality just added positivity to what was an otherwise stressful situation. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and professional and quickly determined my steps of care moving forward. Thank you!!!
Terrible place for a professional rated place. Took so long to get doctor Tobe in. BOTH the nurse/optometrist and doctor did not care about my appointment at all and did things hastily. I have retinal thinning and the doctor barely checked. I was there for almost 90 minutes and only 12 minutes were actual time with the doctor and nurse. Lastly, they even read my eyesight incorrectly. I went to a different vision place that was a franchise and they took better care of me than here. Then they had the audacity to charge me with contact lens fitting when we never even did that in the appointment. Said my vision worsened yet gave me a prescription with the exact magnitudes of my old prescription. If you want people who care about your vision then don’t go here or at least not with Dr. Tobe.
My mom has been going to Abrams Eye Care for many years. In the past year I have accompanied her on several appointments and procedures. The last time, the technician Rachel was incredibly rude and disrespectful. My mom is almost 89 years old, has mobility issues, uses a walker, and has vision loss. Rachel opened the door, yelled mom’s name from across the waiting room, then turned and walked away from us as we were making our way towards her. The hallways turn right, then left on the way to the examination rooms. She was so far ahead of us that we didn't know where she went - how insensitive and rude. Once we got to the examination room, she curtly said, “you sit here” to mom and “you can sit in the corner chair,” to me in a nasty tone. She proceeded to ask my mom questions about what eye drops she’s taking. She asks her every time what color is the cap on her drops. There is NO cap!!! Her eye drops come in a single use tube. She didn’t give mom any time to think. She rushed her. It was so offensive I jumped in to answer her rude questions. After Rachel’s interrogation, we waited in Exam Room #9 for an hour before we saw the doctor. When he finally came in, he was with her for 3 minutes, at most. Mom tried calling many times the week before with questions about her failing vision and NEVER got a return call. It’s obvious customer service is not Abrams Eye Care’s forte, and that’s a shame.
