Previously a patient of Beocks Gap Eye Care I didnt feel like it was a good fit for me. Alabama Family Eye Care was recommended by my sister and my wife used them for her needs and she too had a good experience. I visited and from the moment I walked in I felt like they cared. Every step was smooth and handled with Care. Even choosing the frames and style was seamless. Fast turnaround as well. Highly Recommended by me and my family!

It was a truly coming home experience. Dr. Curl…. Personable, professional, caring, very engaging and absolutely the best doctor. The staff absolutely personable, professional and welcoming. Alabama Eye Care - for the very best eye care - the only place to go!
My entire family Has gone to this facility for the past six years to receive our eye care. We have generally had decent experience, and since it wasn’t bad, we didn’t look elsewhere. We most recently went for our appointments and after filling out pages and pages of forms online in advance, we had our eye exams. After our exams were over, they chose to tell us that our insurance had dropped them as an in network location. They said that they sometimes check insurance, but not always before beginning the appointment. We’ve had the same insurance since 2022 and we’re not informed of this change by anyone. Had the receptionist actually checked our insurance before calling us back, we would have known of this change and not been stuck with a $450 bill for exams only that should have been included. This was extremely frustrating because I had sent all of my information in advance, and their oversight ended up costing me a lot of money. If you want to improve your care, I suggest running the information on all of those forms you require your patients to fill out in advance of their appointments.
Friendly staff and Dr. Curl is really good at explaining things clearly. She is easy to talk with and has a warm and friendly demeanor. Nice relaxing atmosphere and very little wait time. We have been going to Alabama Family Eye Care for about 20 years and never an issue.
This ended up being one of the best eye clinic experiences I’ve had. I scheduled an appointment with AL Family Eye Care in Hoover a few weeks in advance after Googling and reading a few reviews. Their website mentioned a comprehensive eye exam. I didn’t fully know what that meant, but it sounded thorough, so I took a leap of faith since no one I knew had been there before and I had never heard of them. The front desk staff was friendly, and the technician who did my pre-test was very kind. When she mentioned looking at glasses while waiting for the doctor, I’ll be honest — my first thought was they were just trying to see how much money they could get out of me. But once Dr. Wirt came in, the experience completely changed. She sat down, answered all my questions thoroughly, and never made me feel rushed. I also appreciated that she came in dressed casually and spoke with me in a very comfortable, down-to-earth way. While waiting for my eyes to dilate, I met Mae in optical, and she was amazing. She asked what styles and materials I liked and started pulling several options. I honestly felt like a kid in a candy store because they have a great selection of glasses — unlike the average place where everything starts looking alike. When I told her I can be indecisive, I asked her to be very direct with me — and she was. She didn’t just agree with me; she looked at how each frame actually fit my face and whether the frame size was right. That was actually the fastest I’ve ever picked out glasses, and the pair I chose was one Mae had selected for me. Mae is truly an “indecisive person whisperer.” She also never pressured me to buy more than one pair. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12 and I’m now 45, and this was one of the best experiences I’ve had at an eye clinic. I drove 3 hours and only slept about 4 hours, so I was exhausted when I arrived, but the kindness of the staff lifted my entire day, which I really needed because I had three more appointments afterward. Thank you to Dr. Wirt, Mae, and the rest of the team whose names I didn’t catch. It’s clear this office truly cares about their patients.
