I have to leave a review because this was simultaneously one of the most frustrating and funniest customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time. I originally came in for an eye exam and to order new glasses. After completing the initial exam and picking out frames, I was told it would be another 30–60 minutes before I could see the doctor. Unfortunately, I had another appointment and couldn’t stay, so I specifically scheduled a follow-up appointment for the next day to see the doctor. The next day, I arrived on time for my appointment with my 2-year-old daughter in tow, completed the pre-testing, and was then told it would be another 30+ minute wait before seeing the doctor. At this point I found myself standing at the front desk explaining, as calmly as possible: “I came yesterday. I couldn’t stay because the wait was too long. I scheduled today’s appointment specifically so I wouldn’t have to wait again. It’s now 20 minutes past my appointment time, I have a toddler with me, and you’re telling me it’s going to be another half hour.” Meanwhile my daughter had chosen this exact moment to pee through her diaper and pants. The situation was objectively ridiculous. The good news is that every other staff member I interacted with completely understood the problem, acknowledged my concerns, and genuinely tried to help. The biggest reason I’m writing this review is because of Jon. Jon was professional, kind, apologetic, patient, and had an excellent sense of humor about the entire situation. He took the time to help me with my glasses order, answered all my questions, helped make up for a frustrating experience, and genuinely made me feel like a valued customer. By the end of the visit, I had ordered my new glasses, my daughter had been stabilized with emergency chicken nuggets and waffle fries in the Chick-fil-A parking lot, and I was finally able to laugh about the whole thing. America’s Best may have accidentally turned a simple eye appointment into a two-day adventure, but Jon absolutely saved the experience. If management is reading this, Jon deserves recognition. Customer service like his is the reason people come back. And for the record, I’m very excited about my new glasses.

John the general manager waited on me on 5/4 to adjust my frames. He was exceptionally professional and friendly. He addressed all my issues and had my glasses fitting me perfectly by the time I left. He was welcoming and so helpful. I want to acknowledge what a great place this is.
Great location for high quality eyeglasses and frames. They always have deals going on. Eye doctor on site for immediate eye exams. Special now is for 2 pairs of single vision eyeglasses plus a free eye exam for $99.00. And 2 pairs of progressive eye glasses plus a free eye exam for $199.00. Appointments accepted online.
Had a great experience this afternoon at America’s Best Contacts and Eyewear on Westnedge in Portage MI this afternoon despite it ending up extremely busy. Both Mandy and John have amazing customer service and were so helpful to my daughter and I, as well as the other customers they were working directly with despite impatient customers waiting to be helped. I will be returning to this location specifically in the future because of Mandy and John. If you’re going to come in on a day that is going to be busy, like a Saturday, arrive with patience and give people grace. It’s going to be busy, and interrupting another customer’s quality experience because you’re impatient is just rude.
The Dr is down to earth, honest, and cares about what is BEST for the patient. The staff has been hectic and overloaded, reasonably so. Things are tough and we are human! That being said there was a hiccup, Amanda, in management not only heard my concerns but absolved the issue completely and was so kind. THANK ❤️ YOU ❤️ americas best has my business, but this doc and manager have me wherever they go. Thank you.
