I’ve been going here for two years. My first experience was amazing with Dr Jim, he was the first eye doctor to figure out what was going wrong with my eyes and I finally got the right eye glasses prescription. At the time I believe I paid around 90 dollars for the exam and both frames. Over the past year my vision had gotten a little worse, so I figured I was due for an updated prescription. I saw online that appointments are now remote, I looked into the Mason location and they were booked at the time, so I took my chances. I don’t like not leaving 5 star reviews, but I want to save someone in my situation time before they take their chances as well. If you have the time and the funds, I would go with the Mason location because they are more likely to have a doctor on site. My experience this time around was pretty unprofessional between the pre exam and waiting for a doctor online to answer the call. (Only bonus points here is the pre exam is now free!) I was there anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. I may just not understand how cameras all over a room tells an eye doctor what’s going on, or I’m just old timey and believe anything medical shouldn’t be taken over remotely or by AI. The remote doctor cycled through lenses maybe 2-3 times before asking if I had any questions. Lo and behold, the prescription I received is wrong and I am continuing to use my old glasses. I paid around 120 dollars for this appointment. I understand the move to remote is not the choice or fault of the staff on site. Maybe other people have had better experiences as well. This is why I leave 4 stars to not get any staff members in trouble or rank their good reviews. I just wanted to share my story in case I’m not the only one, or others are debating on just taking the chance on a remote appointment.

Had an appointment at 5:00 and didn’t leave until 6:45. The other workers were very nice but it took so long for anything to happen. I waited 25 just for pre-exam, 45 minutes just for the doctor to “call in”. I went here last year and they had real eye doctors to do everything and now they zoom call them in. The real exam took five minutes, and she keep asking to redo things because there was a lag. Then I had to wait for the doctor to update my prescription which took 10 minutes, only for them not to have my contacts. The workers were so sweet but I had other things I had to do that were canceled because of how long it took. Please do better!
Made an appointment 3 weeks ahead of time. The day prior when calling for confirmation I was told it is a virtual appointment. This was never noted when I booked the appointment, so I was left with no time or options to schedule else where and kept the appointment. My appointment time was 10:30am. We arrived at 10:15am and no one greeted myself or the clients who walked in right before or after us. We were checked in at 10:25am, we looked at glasses, at 10:45am we were taken back for pre check items. At 11:00am we were asked to sit in the waiting area. We were not called back to an exam room until 11:45am, we then waited another 10 minutes for the doctor to “call in”. Price may be fine for those with no insurance or limited budgets but the lack of respect for a clients time is ridiculous. The lack of notifying customers of new processes such as virtual appointments is ridiculous. Do better at your scheduling and communication. If you know it takes an hour for an appointment don’t schedule them at the minute increments. If I was an hour and a half late for my appointment I’d be charged a fee and told to come back at a different scheduled time. Treat your customers with the same respect you expect as a doctor.
The staff, I would give 5 stars. However, the quality of my glasses and contacts are bad. I’ve had my glasses for 8 months, and they’re so scratched up. I’ve never had glasses get scratched up like this, and I’ve been wearing glasses for 35+yrs. Contacts feel cheap as well. They’re constantly falling off my finger as I’m putting them in, and the other day, I couldn’t get one out. I scratched my eye trying to get it out. Wearing contacts for almost 30 yrs, and have never had this happen. Pricing was basically what I would pay anywhere else, so I didn’t expect such low quality.
My husband, Tracy needed new glasses. He was referred to AB by our brother in law, John Tolliver. Stacy was superb in her knowledge and helpfulness in helping him choose his eyewear. Everyone at the Middletown location was pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Great customer service!!!
