The eye provider, Dr. Dotson, had some of the worst bedside manners I’ve ever experienced. First, he accused the pre exam technician of switching my children’s pre test results, which was unprofessional and uncomfortable for everyone involved. Second, when discussing my son’s color vision screening, he was unable to thoroughly explain the results or advise whether additional testing would be appropriate. I explained that my son hopes to attend a high school with an aviation program and eventually become a pilot. In front of my son, Dr. Dotson simply said, “Yeah, he’s not going to be a pilot. There are other professions for him to choose from.” His delivery was incredibly insensitive, especially when speaking to a child with big aspirations. A more compassionate provider would have explained that additional testing or FAA specific evaluations may be available before making such a definitive statement. Needless to say, we will be seeking a second opinion. No family should leave an appointment feeling dismissed or discouraged the way we did. I do want to recognize the rest of the staff. The ladies who assisted us were kind, courteous, and professional throughout the visit. They provided excellent customer service, and I truly felt sorry that they have to work alongside someone who lacks the same level of professionalism and compassion.

I mostly come here for medical visits ( by insurance). But when I came to get new glasses I realized that they had such an amazing selection. I wanted to try a new style and the optician tech was very helpful and patient narrowing down which glasses to get. The whole staff is super nice overall .
My concern is more along the lines of just not caring. I spent about $800 a year on glasses because of their no filling expired prescription rule Always sunglasses and regulars. My clear lenses were lost three months ago. I was informed they couldn’t refill it because it was out of date so for that long, I’ve been wearing prescription sunglasses day and night. because of my schedule, I finally got around to asking the question is there a law in Texas that requires ophthalmologist to deny filling prescriptions past a certain date? To my surprise, there actually is a law that forbid filling contacts prescriptions a year, older or older, but there is no such white claw or glasses, even though I was told there was. He has become a policy of many providers, not to fill past two years, unfortunately for me and others in my situation Americas Best only has a one-year policy, no matter who it inconvenience. I finally made the schedule There in all my disappointment only to have for the patients get called in front of me. I’m obviously not their favorite customer. I left. I’ll find another provider and I’ll make damn sure they care about me.
Nope. They were super under staffed, heard the doctor even talking about it. They very much rushed through my appointment that started roughly about 40 minutes late, didnt do a fitting on my contacts just wrote me up for some even though I havent worn them in 4 years. Got home after picking them up and paying for them a week later and they didnt fit well. Reached out to corporate and didnt hear back for months and never got the call from the store manager as promised. Went into another provider who said they would look at it quickly for free and said the contacts didnt fit my eyes well. If I would have just worn them and got used to it they said it could have caused damage. Got new contacts that feel much better. I wouldn't ever return to an americas best again but if you have to dont pick this store. One good note, the woman helping me at the end didnt forget to try to upset me and ask me discovery questions as to why im not buying frames from them, thank god they did that and not spent the time fitting me into contacts that actually fit. Oh also they dont measure distance PD often when busy, read through the reviews. These are the most half-assed eye doctors of all time.
Michelle was absolutely wonderful! She was helpful, patient and kind. She turned what could have easily been an overwhelming experience into something delightful.
