I visited yesterday and was greeted as soon as I came in with friendly faces. Everything was smooth, I observed the staff exhibiting great teamwork, all questions were answered and everyone was polite and professional. Special shot out to Amaris, Sharonda, Antonio and Dr. Townsend! Dr. Townsend was very knowledgeable and thorough with his examinations and explained everything as he went along and gave tips and recommendations. Thanks so much to all the staff there. I have never had this great of an experience going to an eye appointment. Keep up the great work.

Sharonda and Nyasia were very helpful and delightful to work with. They found me the best deals with what I had to work with and were very patient. The doctor was very thorough in explaining everything he was doing and even recommending tips during the exam for better practices of eye care. This was hands down the best experience I’ve had with americas best and I will be coming back to this location. Thank yall again!!
I scheduled a contact lens exam at America’s Best in Mechanicsville for 10:20 AM and arrived 10 minutes early. I finally left at 12:45 PM—more than 2½ hours later—after one of the most disorganized eye appointments I have ever experienced. After waiting to be checked in, I was told my exam would be virtual. About 35 minutes later, I was taken for preliminary testing on three machines. The employee performing the tests appeared to be struggling, with the manager, Opal, repeatedly going back and forth to assist her. After another roughly 30-minute wait, I was taken to an exam room to connect with the virtual doctor. A message then appeared saying some of my preliminary test results had not been submitted. I had to return to the testing room, repeat the tests, go back to the exam room, and then go back into the queue to wait for the doctor again. This didn’t happen once. It happened THREE times. Each time, the doctor apparently wasn’t receiving the required test results. While sitting in the exam room, I could also see a large computer screen displaying patient names and appointment times, while the tech clicked through patient information in full view of me. That raised serious privacy concerns. When I finally finished at 12:45, I was told I would receive trial contacts, return for a follow-up, and then my prescription would be released. Yet before I had even tried the contacts, I was immediately asked if I wanted to order them. I asked what my appointment would cost and what the contacts would cost if I ordered them, but I couldn’t get clear answers. Then I learned they didn’t even have my trial contacts—they had to order them and told me they would arrive in 7–10 days. When I got home, I called to ask what brand of contacts they had selected for me so I could look at pricing on their website. Manager Opal told me she couldn’t tell me the brand because doing so would be a HIPAA violation. That response was particularly unbelievable considering I had just spent part of my appointment looking at other patients’ names and appointment information displayed on a screen in front of me. Now I have received an email saying my trial contacts are delayed until September, despite needing contacts this week, and I still do not have a finalized prescription that I can use elsewhere. More than 2½ hours, preliminary tests repeated three times because they weren’t reaching the doctor, questionable handling of patient information, unclear pricing, no trial contacts, and now a delay of weeks. If you need contact lenses in a reasonable timeframe, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. My experience was disorganized, frustrating, and completely unacceptable.
I just want to say what a wonderful job Lauren and Antonio did. They were a little short staffed but were absolutely fantastic. Also the young lady who did the eye exam with the doctor remote was also a pleasure! They were absolutely wonderful and so pleasant and polite. They did everything top notch! Thank y'all so so much
Be prepared to wait 2 hours. We waited 2 hours for the first appointment and another 2 hours for the contacts followup appointment. Will never come back, but we had to be they wouldn't give a contact prescription without a follow up appointment. Also, the staff are rude and slow.
