On Monday, I visited the store for an eye exam and glasses purchase. The following day, I returned to request removal of the anti-glare add-on and a refund of that portion of the purchase. The manager approved the refund and informed me I was “all set,” however I was not provided a receipt or confirmation. After waiting approximately seven days without receiving the refund, I contacted corporate and was told only the store manager could handle the matter. When I returned to the store, the general manager became defensive rather than addressing the issue professionally. She repeatedly questioned whether I was using the correct card despite my having the original receipt. I later discovered through my banking notification that the transaction had been processed as a purchase instead of a refund, which caused the transaction to decline because my card blocks unauthorized purchases. This error directly contradicted what I had been told in-store. After contacting corporate to file a complaint, I returned to the store to explain the issue calmly. During this interaction, the general manager continued behaving unprofessionally, refused accountability for the transaction error, and escalated the interaction further by yelling as I exited the store. During the interaction, the manager also made unsolicited religious/personal remarks toward me, including commenting on whether I was “acting blessed.” I found these comments inappropriate and unprofessional, particularly during an active customer service dispute involving my refund. Additionally, the aggressive tone, confrontational behavior, repeated challenges regarding my payment method despite my receipt documentation, and the verbal and physical escalation as I exited the store made the interaction feel intimidating rather than customer-focused or solution-oriented. As I exited the store, the manager continued yelling toward me from the doorway while waving her arms aggressively as I was getting in the car, that was parked right in front of the store front door due to my physical disability. This aggressive behavior caused severe distress causing me to cry in fear of getting assaulted by your General Manager. Her behavior was confrontational and intimidating, particularly as I was attempting to leave the premises after resolving the refund issue. The escalation of the interaction in the store before leaving made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I believe the store surveillance footage will reflect the nature of the encounter. I had to make a formal complaint twice about her in one day, all over a $55 refund that they messed up on. Buyer Be ware, Aggressive General manager Courtney will verbally assault you as you leave the store and throw in religious slurs as well. Complete trash store if this is how they run things.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding experience at America's Best in Colonie. I booked my appointment online, was seen quickly, and had both my contact lens and eyeglass prescriptions completed the same day. The office was busy, but everything ran efficiently. As a bonus, the optometrist I saw remembered me from over 10 years ago, which made the experience even better. One tip for anyone looking to save money: ask for a copy of your eyeglass prescription, your contact lens prescription, and your pupillary distance (PD). Once you have everything, you can compare prices online and often save a significant amount on frames and lenses instead of paying full retail markups. Fast, professional, and affordable. I'll definitely be back for future eye exams.
Everyone at this location is a joke. Zyare was our associate at checkout. Our first red flag was when she couldn’t explain why it was $90 for both my glasses after insurance- but when I took blue light lenses off one pair the total was $76. This is after she told me it’s $40 per pair for blue light glasses. Second issue occurred when we asked to have a prescription thinned out for my husband’s glasses. I paid $360 only to receive glasses that were not thinned out. At pick up, the lady at the desk was quite rude. The other rep Annie, tried to tell us the glasses were thinned out and then said a prescription this high could not be thinned out to the 1.67 index I paid for. Had Zyare been doing her job instead of talking around us and conversing with another employee and her child, we could have had a conversation on what we would have realistically received. Annie failed to properly refund the glasses, putting other guest ahead of us and our concerns. The money was already spent, she couldn’t refund me properly, offered little assistance or remedy to the situation. I had to tell her to refund me for the lenses instead of the whole order. None of this would have been an issue had we had a representative that was attentive and focused on servicing their customers instead of chit chatting. Every employee in there looks like they got this job off of indeed and the certainly dress the part too.
Went in for a walk in a little late and got 2 pairs of glasses and even my lenses reframed, the staff here is awesome. Eye doctor was humourous and great customer service from Courtney and the other staff. All around good people and service!
