Big City Optical On Southport

OUTSTANDING 👏 Jay and Kayla at Big City Optical are the BEST!! I hadn't been to the eye doctor since pre-pandemic and was well overdue for a checkup. Jay helped me with paperwork and made the process so easy, plus he was a great listener as I'd recently been through a hardship and needed to talk. Kayla helped me with picking out frames for my round face. She was very helpful and creative, and gave amazing feedback to help me find the perfect first pair of frames. Picking up the frames was easy breezy. Big City Optical called me and texted to let me know they were available, and Jay had me try them on before I left to make sure they fit well and I could see clearly. Once again, Jay and Kayla showed the absolute best in customer service and I can't wait to be back! They make going to the eye doctor just plain fun and enjoyable. 😄

Amazing experience! Staff was professional and beyond courteous in explaining best options to maximize insurance benefits. Jay was friendly, efficient and helpful, Dr. C took the time to explain retinal screening and was beyond kind through the entire exam and Julia was the best! She had already picked out frames that she thought I may be interested in by the time the exam was over, and took the time to price and “consult” just about every frame in the store. Easily my best experience at an optometrist- and went home with my favorite (and most affordable) glasses in years!

The staff are so nice, doctor included. I was dreading having an eye exam after probably 20 years without one, but they made me feel super comfortable and were really helpful with picking out glasses.

I’ve been coming here for about 4-5 years ever since my BF and I moved into Lakeview. Recently, I bought a pair of glasses online (which I’ve done before) and brought them in to be fitted for lenses. I’m REALLY picky about style and color of frames, so I opted out of picking a pair from their store THIS year. I did, however, choose 2 pairs of glasses last year from their limited selection. I STILL wanted to support this business, so instead of asking for my prescription and just getting them fitted online, I brought them in here. I paid $350 for new lens and when I went to pick them up today, they were given to me in the same plastic bag that I received them in via mail. You mean to tell me, they couldn’t even just give me a generic case for my new purchase so that they didn’t get scratched up??? $350 ya’ll…and a previous customer for many years??? I know $350 may not be much to some folks standards, but I honestly thought it would at least warrant a case. I’m so disappointed…

Shout-out to Jay and Kayla! They were super helpful as I was picking out glasses. This part is always so overwhelming, but they made it super seamless. I'm a very anxious person by nature and they made me feel welcome and at ease. There are some super kind folks over at the Southport location!
