Big City Optical Streeterville

Great experience today at Big City Optical. Staff was friendly, professional and very respectful of a tight timeline I had to get my eyes checked. Staff was not pushy in any way, and felt that the exam was very thoroughly done. Very impressed! Nice frame selection as well! They’ll be my new go to spot! Thank you Marguerite and Dr Au!

Alyse on the floor was amazing! She took the time to help me tighten my glasses and made sure they fit perfectly and comfortably. She was friendly, patient, and really paid attention to the details. It’s the kind of customer service that makes a difference quick, helpful, and genuinely kind. Really appreciate the help! 👓

I had a very bad experience at this store. I originally picked a pair of frames of which my husband was not huge fan (based on seeing the photos I took while at the store). I called the store and asked them to hold my order, and that I would come to the store first thing next day to pick a new pair. They assured me that they will do so and that there would be no problems. When I showed up the next business day, the pair I had originally picked was gone. I ended up picking a second pair which was cheaper than the previous ones and went home. They called me to say they would not refund my original payment for the first pair now that I had picked cheaper frames and they would only give me "store credit". What am I gonna do with store credit worth $200? I only change frames every 10 years! I will not even be living in Chicago by then. So, I had to go back and pick a third expensive pair of frames just so I would not have leftover store credit. Turns out this expensive frames are way too heavy for my face and leave marks on my nose. So, now I am stuck with these heavy expensive frames for the next 10 years. Awful experience and staff that do not know how to communicate properly. If they had only held the original frames, or told me they are unable to refund me, I would have not been in this situation.

Thank you Big City Optical for helping me out with a trial pair of contacts. I’m here for a short time and didn’t have my regular ones with me. They went out of their way to help. The front desk staff was stellar and the Doctor interrupted her schedule to search for trials. Thank you so much!
