Went to VISTAR for a checkup the other day…. I just cannot say enough great things about that facility !!! All the folks were so professional And friendly; from The receptionist, to the nice young lady who took me back and did the preliminary vision/ pressure tests , to… of course .. Dr. SCOTHORN !! He has been my eye doctor for a very long time , and I am SO VERY Appreciative of him. I always leave there feeling well taken care of !!

I have been going to Dr. Scothorn for probably 30 or more years! I was around 50 when I wanted to be fitted for soft contact lense. I went to several different practices and they couldn’t fit me. Then one of the eye doctors at Lewis-Gale told me about a young doctor in Tanglewood Mall who was having lots of success with people who were difficult to fit. So, I visited him and his assistant, Kim. They made me feel relaxed and really wanted to get me fitted. It didn’t take long and I was fitted correctly and couldn’t have been more excited! It wasn’t long before he joined VISTAR Eye Center. I have seen a couple other doctors there at times and they were good but nothing like Dr. Scothorn! He recommended a few years ago that I finally needed cataract surgery on both eyes. The surgeon who performed that was wonderful, too. It was a much happier experience than what i had feared. I could see so much more clearly. I’m in my 80s so if anyone out there needs to get eye treatment, I couldn’t be happier to recommend VISTAR Eye Center to them. I used to go to the downtown practice but now I go to the Botetourt location. We don’t have to bother with downtown traffic. God bless Dr. Scothorn, Kim and a newer assistant I saw this time, Chauntel. I could go on and on over all the visits I’ve had with VISTAR. I honestly think they are the very best eye center anywhere! May God continue to bless all the doctors and workers with VISTAR! I pray I’ll have many more visits and years to be cared for by them.

I've been seeing Dr. Scothorn for years. He took over my care from Dr. Race years ago, who I had been seeing since I was a child. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor!! The whole Vistar team is amazing and they all do excellent work. Highly recommended!!

I trust the doctors and staff at Vistar completely. I could not imagine going anywhere else. Drs. Scothorn and Ramey are at the top of their game, and Kathleen, Nancy and Emily are just as wonderful. This is the place to go for all your visual and esthetic needs.

Check in went very smoothly. I waited for a very short period in the waiting area, maybe 5 minutes, until I was called back. The exam went very smoothly, everything was explained to me in detail. Great staff, great doctor, highly recommend.
