Wasted a lot of time and money being fitted for a scleral contact lens by a doctor whom Clarus said was an expert. After thinking the process wasn't for me and that cornea surgery might be my only option, I was talked into reconsidering and going to a doctor in Gig Harbor. Night and day experiences. Amazing what can be accomplished when you're in the care of a doctor who knows what they're doing. Also, when doing a routine fitting for a soft lens for my other eye, it was suggested that I switch to a different brand of lens. I proceeded to order two boxes of that brands. I was told that if I ultimately didn't like the change, to bring in whatever was left over and they'd swap back to the other brand. I did that, only to be told that I'd have to first get another eye exam because it had been more than 6 months (it was 2 weeks past). I proceeded to get a new prescription from a different eye doctor (the one handling my new scleral lens). When I presented Clarus with the new prescription, they refused to honor the swap. Discouraging. As a side note, the lady that heads up the glasses and contacts section of the Lilly Road location is extremely rude and will do anything to make every interaction unpleasant. It seems as though Clarus has gotten a bit too big for its britches. The expansion of locations seems to have affected their service to the area, proof being in their ever dropping Google rating. Go elsewhere. Try a place that values your business and treats you as such.

I had a good experience at the Lacey location for my cataract surgery...very professional. Then they sent me to the Lily Road location to fill my prescription for glasses, which turned out bad. I wanted 2 pairs of glasses... one for every day use and one to use when I played the piano. I was never told by any doctor that my left eye will never be able to see better than 20/50 until my 2nd visit there to have my prescription re-evaluated because I couldn't see clearly. And the doctor did not re-check my vision. I was told this by the optometry person. And my piano playing glasses turned out to be the same prescription as my naked eyes (so virtually no prescription). I needed to have that changed to work at a computer distance. On my 2nd visit there, I had a hugely inflamed stye in my eye. The doctor sent my prescription to my old pharmacy, even though she asked which pharmacy to send it to. After 2 trips to the pharmacy, who did not have the order, we called Clarus to see where it was. Of course, we could not talk to a real person, so I had to leave a message. I got a message on my phone telling me what had happened and that my new pharmacy was contacted. After waiting another 2 hours, we called them, and they had NOT yet received the order. We had our new pharmacy call our old pharmacy to get the order from them. I should have had the medication by 10:30 am but didn't receive it until 6:30 pm. A whole day wasted while my stye grew dramatically during that time. Would I recommend the Lily location or Clarus to get prescriptions filled or medical problems with the eye? No.

Unprofessional, dismissive, and zero aftercare. Left with permanent damage. I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Dr. Aaker. After dealing with a persistent eye issue, I was rushed into an invasive surgery with him. He spent almost no time with me before or after the procedure, treating me like an assembly-line inconvenience rather than a patient. Worse yet, he completely failed to provide basic aftercare instructions or ensure I had a follow-up appointment scheduled to check on my healing. When the surgery failed and the exact same issue returned a year later, his attitude was entirely unprofessional and dismissive. Instead of investigating why his procedure didn't work, he seemed openly annoyed that I had to return for the same problem, showing a complete lack of accountability and treating my recurring symptoms as if they were my fault. He then proceeded to perform the exact same surgery a second time, which ultimately left my eye even more damaged. Because of his rushed care and complete lack of proper post-operative tracking, I am now left with permanent scar tissue damage and chronic inflammation in my eyelid that I am having to see a different specialist to correct. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a surgeon who provides standard medical aftercare, stands by their work, and treats patients with basic respect.

I have had a lot of complications with my eyes and have had several surgeries at Clarus. Every time they are very polite and caring. They really do a good job keeping you comfortable and explaining what is going to go on. The Dr's are very good and friendly. They really watch out for you. My Dr tried hid best to help me try to avoid the surgery but it just became necessary. I highly recommend Clarus for your eye needs.

The surgery center and doctor were great. They were kind and attentive. Dr. Aaker has a great manner with patients. He explains everything very well and carefully, and he was wonderful during the surgery. The only issue I have is with the billing department. They tried to charge me an extra $1900 that I didn’t owe. They said it was a mistake, but it still keeps showing up anyway. Also, it wasn’t clear what I would be charged for the anesthesia. The staff and the doctor are excellent, but the billing department needs work and you should pay attention to any bills. that part needs a lot of help. But if you can get past the billing department mistakes, Clarus did a really great job. If it wasn’t for the billing department, I would’ve given this five stars.
