Hani in the front is awesome, very professional and thorough. Cathy is awful. She stuck her nose in my care and tried to tell me I had to come back and that my paperwork was "suspicious". What on earth? Unfortunately, this review is for the department and thus Cathy knocked down the 5-star I give Hani to a 3. Technically 2.5 as I give her 0 stars, not 1. Lucky for her these ratings are in whole numbers.

Saw Dr. Tiara Vu Nguyen in the past but didn't leave a review right away. She was very quick and I later realized that was probably not a good thing because the prescription she gave me was way off. I struggled for a while and thought it was because I was adjusting to progressive lens. Later I realized both the glasses and contacts lens prescriptions were not right. I later went to another optometrist and got new and better prescription. So much more comfortable!! Now I am stuck with a pair of glasses and months of contact lens with the wrong prescription.
Wow they are so rude here! I was given trial contact lenses that caused burning and discomfort after my medical eye exam. Because my prescription includes two different contact lens options, I called to ask if I could try the other lenses before purchasing. I explained that I have a history of eye sensitivity and reactions to certain lenses and preservatives. Instead of being helped, the male front desk employee repeatedly told me to “just buy them", because I have used the brand before. I tried to explain had a terrible experience with the brand, and these are completely different lenses with different preservatives. He never listened to me and I felt pressured to purchase lenses without confirming they were safe or comfortable for my eyes. I had to repeatedly defend myself and share personal medical history just to be heard, which was embarrassing and frustrating. After several minutes of back and forth, the male employee finally spoke with the doctor, who agreed to order the trial lenses. I was on hold while he was speaking to the doctor for a few minutes, it seems like they were both reluctant to ordering me a sample. The interaction left me feeling angry, disrespected, and disappointed. Very bad experience, patients should not have to disclose their medical history to front staff in order to be listened to!!!!!!!
Firstly, I'd like to say that this review is completely directed to the front desk. The Doctor himself has been very kind and helpful; he deserves a complete 5-star review, and I appreciated his care and advice. Unfortunately, I did not receive the same treatment from the person at the front desk. For a description, this man wears glasses and is plus-sized. During my time there, he had a negative attitude and kept making rude side comments about different topics. For example, he did not greet me or smile, and mocked me for being 5 minutes late. His inability to remain professional was notably problematic towards the end of my visit when I had to look through my phone to receive further insurance details. Specifically, he sighed loudly and kept rolling his eyes. I eventually had to call my provider, and he refused to accommodate me: he did not want to listen to my provider talk, and wanted me to recite the details out loud without me handing him a screenshot on my phone. The experience has unfortunately ruined my day, and I will most likely never get a vision test at this location. I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior before at any Costco, and I hope it does not happen again.
Best Costco Optical in Orange County! The frame selection is much better than other locations, offering a lot more variety. The staff is top-notch and very well-trained. A big thanks to Ed, the manager, for his expert guidance and for running such a professional department. Highly recommend!
