Super appreciative of the service and attention to detail that Alberto and Nea offered me today. Buying prescription glasses can feel so overwhelming for me. Nea was so wonderful in helping me choose a style and size that fit my face frame. She was so kind in giving me the best feedback. Alberto was so knowledgeable and offered me with so much information needed to invest on glasses. Honestly it’s been really hard for me to find such level of support and thanks to Costco Optical staff (Alberto and Nea) in San Leandro for being so genuinely dedicated to this work.

Alberto is amazing. Okay, truth be told, I didn’t get my glasses from Costco… But I had to come in for a repair. Not only did he repair my glasses, he took time to adjust my frames around my ears so I don’t have to adjust them every two minutes (something my opt in dwt SL refused to do). The line was three deep, and this man still took time to help me!! Additionally, shout out to Costco for price! I paid $600 for my frames at Flores Opt and Costco frames are closer to $100. I am not a rich man and I’ve learned my lesson! Better quality staff (!!!!), same quality frames, prices that are affordable. As a busy working, single mom, I am kicking myself for not going sooner.

I had a perfectly fine experience there, but if you are a VSP member please be warned that while the Costco Optical Department is in network, the doctor who administers the exam is NOT. Ended up having to file out of network, which was an unpleasant and unexpected cost.

Zero empathetic connection. Seek an ophthalmologist with good referrals if you have never worn glasses and/or have any sudden/noticeable change in vision or eye health. This is not the place to start. By nature or by design this is a rote system. Appointment, pay, test, good luck. The eyewear counter was kind and helpful but one legitimate piece of advice was missed. “If you have never worn glasses before, start slow”. Don’t use one pair to solve all issues out the gate.
