Had the best experience at Eyewise! Having not had an eye checkup in over 5 years and new to the area, I went in fairly nervous… but was greeted so kindly, quick paperwork process, then lead by the lovely Rio through all the eye tests! She was amazing. Explained everything thoroughly and made me feel so comfortable! Quickly after, Dr. Lukens went over the findings, and took the time to explain everything, making sure I had the best prescription for me! Finally, sweet Emily helped with her expert opinions, to find frames! I’m so happy with them, and the overall experience! Actually looking forward to my checkup in a year :) Thank you Eyewise!

I have been a patient of Dr Lukens for over 20 years. He is patient, very knowledgeable, explains everything he is doing and is all about making sure his patients have the best care. I often have difficulty getting used to prescription changes especially with progressive lenses. Dr Lukins keeps great notes about what has worked and not worked over the years and works with me to ensure I have glasses that work well for me. I highly recommend him.
A delight of a practice. Uber professional with great front desk staff and the doctor is thorough and takes in context as he assesses your eye health. Modern, clean, efficient. Highly recommend.
Friendly staff and Dr. Alex Lukens is incredible. He took the time to explain the different tests involved in the exam and what my results meant.
TL;DR: I highly recommend you visit Eyewise Optometry for your vision needs. I just ordered new glasses from Eyewise. I took them home after fitting, and soon discovered that one of the side pieces was a bit loose. I took them back, and the staff was most understanding and helpful. They gave me a choice of ordering a new frame of the same style, or choosing a different frame. I had them order a new frame of the same style. When it arrived, I took my glasses in to have the lenses switched to the new pair. She took them into the back and returned a few minutes later with bad news- the new frames were also loose in the same way as my original frame. I was given options again: switch to the new frames and try them out for a while to see if they would hold up, order yet again a new frame of the same style, or select a wholly different frame, and they would have new lenses cut to fit at no additional charge to me. I wasn't going to order a third frame of the same style, so I chose to look again at their selection of frames. This was my least favorable choice because i have very specific needs for glassware- a very large lens area with small thin but sturdy framing around the glass in a silver or gunmetal tone. The frame I originally selected was the only one they had that was suitable for my needs. So she went off in search of the impossible, and came back with about 4 frames for me to review. For various reasons none of them met my criteria. I told her so, and we discussed options at that point. Then she said, "wait a moment, we might have a possible solution." She brought me a set of sunglasses in an aviator style frame that had everything i needed. She popped the plastic out of them for me to try on, and they worked! I then realized the problem: this was an entirely different shape of frame from what i originally ordered, so new lenses were going to need to be cut to fit them. I asked how the expense would be different from what i already paid. She looked it up and said the frames were about $20 more, but not to worry, they would cover that cost. Then I asked, but what about the cost of cutting new lenses? She said, don't worry about that either; not your problem. So, problem solved. Thank you, Eyewise! I found Eyewise on a referral. It was also suggested that i research a couple of online companies and a nationwide outlet in Walnut Creek that came recommended. I couldn't find anything in the recommended online sites that I liked, and the idea of ordering glasses online kind of scared me anyway. I looked at the online catalog for the Walnut Creek outlet and found a couple of frames that might be suitable, then my wife said to consider the time spent in driving out there about 30 minutes away to order, then to pick up, then to have to go that distance again with any problems down the road (I guess i'm hard on my glasses, so there WILL be problems). So then we checked out Eyewise, and when I found the frames I liked, the price I was quoted was less than what we would have paid at the Walnut Creek national chain store, plus because of my referral, my very advanced age, my good looks and scintillating personality ( I'm sure), she offered me a small discount to boot! The problem with the frames was not of Eyewise's making- it was wholly a supplier's issue. The staff went above and beyond to help me and to satisfy me, and they did. I think they should consider taking that style of frame out of their inventory, but that's their decision. In my journey, i was helped by two employees- Hailey (I hope the spelling is correct), and a young man (sorry i can't remember his name). Both of them were very courteous, empathetic to my needs, and helpful, and the staff behind the desk both gave me a "THANK YOU and enjoy your weekend!" on my way out. I HIGHLY recommend!
