Costco Optical

The doctor was extremely rude and mouthy. The insurance we have is acceptable at the store not with that doctor and he was nasty about it.

Dr Schwartz is the best! We have seen several ophthalmologists since living in Louisville. We prefer Dr. Schwartz over all of them. Professional and very knowledgeable.

My son has astigmatism which causes one eye to be legally blind and glasses do not help. My whole family has gone to this doctor for years and we usually just do a check up on my son to see if he’s had any changes. He specifically needed an exam for his drivers permit test so we got that and after driving to Frankfort KY to take that test, they told us that the doctor needed to fill out THEIR form and would not accept the doctor’s 6 page typed exam explaining his condition. We had waited 6 months for this appt and I called his receptionist who was willing to do anything to help. I asked if I could take a picture with my phone, email it and then find someone in the building they could email it back to, & she said absolutely! They had it done and sent within 30 mins! Very grateful to Dr. Schwartz and his staff for going above and beyond to help us that day!

We were unable to successfully purchase glasses after a veritable comedy of errors trying to do so twice with three different interactions. My spouse went there to get glasses and was told they don't do that. I called and was told they might not take our vision insurance. She checked and they did. My spouse returned and was told by the person at the counter they don't take our vision insurance without even looking at the card. He explained that I had called to check and they do, and she looked down at the card and said oh yes, we do take this insurance. After looking up our benefits and explaining the limits to my spouse he picked a pair of glasses and was told the insurance doesn't cover all of it (it does). He left and went elsewhere and was told that Costco had a hold on his insurance they would need to take off before he could get glasses at the other place. He called Costco and was told he would need to call his insurance company to remove the hold they had placed on his account. Both the other place and our insurance said that was incorrect. I have always had a great experience at Costco, including the tire center and the pharmacy. I cannot comprehend the purpose of an optical center that doesn't seem to want to sell people glasses. Avoid this place like the plague!

Excellent service, very grateful to the ophthalmologist who took all the time to explain every detail during the appointment, very professional and polite. The staff at the optician's office was very professional and pleasant. 100% recommended.
