They have a take a number dispenser poorly located. Then when you take a number the numbers are out of order. Last time I waited 1 and a half hours to find out I didn’t have a number. This time I took a number to find out that other people were waiting longer with a different number and I get to wait again. Best advice go anywhere else than here. Costco is always understaffed. Use a business that exclusively does eyeglasses and exams. The way to go for service and selection.

I went in as a walk in and was warmly greeted. The optometrist was clean and professional. He dialed in my prescription and verified that it worked well for me. The young lady in the office verified my insurance and payments required before the appointment. It was stress less and efficient.
Thrilled with my experience with both Dr. Winkleman and the front desk staff. I post on the Facilitate Joy account with things other autistic people are likely to care about. While the parking and getting through Costco was overwhelming as usual, as soon as I entered the office itself everything was calm and quiet. There’s a sliding door between the main part of Costco and the optometrist’s lobby/office, which is amazing for sound reduction. Dr. Winkleman was calm, friendly, and perfect for my nervous system. There wasn’t a lot of excess touching around my face - my last appointment at a prior provider took 45 minutes and it was too much for me sensory wise. He answered my random questions about the history of optometry, which was so much better than small talk! The front desk staff (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name!) knew lots about neurodivergence and was so lovely to talk with. I even learned a little about her mom’s nonprofit to help people with disabilities. Such a win folks!!! I’ve definitely found my place!
Receptionist was extremely rude about basic questions about contact prescriptions. 06/01/2026 2:52pm
Dr. Winkelman is not only a fantastic physician but an incredibly kind human. I came in with my 15 month old son annd did not expect to get in for ann exam. Not only did they fit me in, but he allowed me to hold my son while I did an eye exam. He was patient while I held my squirming son and was happy to chat in the meantime. He also gave me two sets of new contacts to try out for a few months and let me know that he was happy to have me try a different type (for free also) if these don’t work. I recommended two friends to see him after my experience.
