Always had a good experience in the past but recently did not. I had an appointment for an updated prescription of contacts on the 21st of June and didn't receive my order until the 17th of September, basically 3 months later. I've never had to wait longer than 2 weeks for contacts before and this was far from expectations

Everyone at Discount Eyewear are very friendly and helpful. I went there yesterday for my first eye exam. Dr Vits and Brandon were both very professional and helpful. I have never had a more thorough exam before. All the rest of the staff were also very helpful and great at their jobs. I highly recommend Discount Eyewear to anyone who needs their services.

The staff was so friendly and helpful! They even helped me pick frames that best suited me! Nothing like Bard Optical which is a plus. Bard optical was so rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. Discount eyewear definitely went above and beyond with there customer service. explained everything to me that they where doing, listened to my concerns, and where very pleasant the whole time. Thank you all so much!

This is my 2nd google review: Now I am truly amazed how Dr. Vits has been able to 'fool' some of his customers through the years. He might have been able to fool them except for ME as I am calling him out on this one. About a month ago, I went to this business, found a nice gold pair of frames, had staff write up my work order, paid with credit card. A week later, my glasses were done, went to pick them up and brought them home. Three days later, I decided to wear them and lo and behold, my lenses didn't have the transitions I had on the work order. Took the glasses back - except I had taken a picture of these gold frames - to this business whereas, your staff confirmed that no transitions lenses were in these frames. I was told the lab tech staff made a mistake in picking up the wrong blanks before working on my order. Now that appears to mean incompetence and not paying attention to their job. Second time I went back to get my glassess - the lenses were transitions BUT THE FRAMES WEREN'T THE GOLD ONES I ORIGINALLY PICKED OUT! Now this amazes me!! Could my gold frames have gotten lost or damaged? Anyway, I will be sure to tell my friends and others in our community along with picture of the original frames I chose and the replacement frames you gave me. The style of these replacement frames and whoever picked them out - the person didn't choose badly. Thank goodness I paid with my credit card as I have the Consumer Rights Act which says owner will have to pay me back for the mistake his staff made if I choose to file a claim against Dr. Vits and his business ethics in the near future. 1st Review: Just recently I wanted to go back to Discount Eyewear as I had been a customer back in 2017 and the previous owner was a friend of mine. Having gone back to them for my new prescription and looking for new frames; it appears that the new owner won't be following in the footsteps of previous owner in regards to accepting health insurance coverage for eye lenses. I was told that they do not accept Medicare nor United Health (my policy covers eye lenses); whereas, the previous owner did accept these companies. Also was told that they do not make new lenses for existing frames for which I had originally bought in 2017 from this business. Maybe he doesn't want the liability of possibily not being able to match the lenses? Anyway, the young man(Avery) and young lady (Haylee) were very helpful in the information they gave me regarding my new frames and lenses. Both of them should be commended for being friendlier than previous employees as my friends had told me. Now that I know that they can't accommodate nor honor my new prescription into the frames that I had bought from previous owner in 2017; there's a good chance I will be obtaining these lenses at other local eye businesses. Thank you for your time.

I heavily debated posted this, especially given everyone's good reviews; however, that being said, I'd also like to share my experience. Dr. Vits is a very, VERY nice man. Brandon is also an amazing asset to the team. However, niceness doesn't necessarily go hand and hand with a good experience. I first went to Dr. Vits in the Dixon store in July of 2020. My one eye was dilated far more than my other eye and it stayed that way for many hours afterwards. I then received a prescription that wasn't right after waiting a week for my glasses. We got that fixed and we were fine after that. I then went to the Rock Falls store earlier this month and had a pleasant experience until I went to pick my glasses up. They, again, were the wrong prescription. The lady that was sitting up front told me that with low level prescriptions can notice fairly significant changes, but it wasn't just significant- it was blurry. After that, they checked the lenses and one of them had come in with a bad lense. They said they would send them back to be redone and then see how that changed. I told them not only was the lense messed up, but it was also the wrong prescription. So they sent the glasses back, I came back to pick them up, and sure enough- they were the wrong prescription. After some back and forth, they said they would give me the same prescription I had, which I had suggested in the past, and I could come pick them up when they were ready. So in total, I went to pick glasses up 3 different times. I live 25 minutes away and work 2nd shift, so it was a pretty big inconvenience. On top of that, I'm still not entirely sure they have me my old prescription or if this time it's a matter of adjusting. They also didn't tell me that the safety glasses I received will have permanent side shields, which was also a bummer. Either way, I will not be back. Dr. Vits and most of his staff are very friendly, but I will no longer be trusting them with my eyes and getting a second opinion.
