Dr. Mike and the front office staff are excellent! They did a great job making my child’s first eye exam a good experience. They were very informative and helpful throughout the exam.

I brought my neice and nephew in as they have lost both parents and are in fostercare while I am fighting for custody. The kindness and care that Dr. Ferguson, Andrea, and Holly showed to them was absolutely beautiful. They felt good just getting basic care and being treated with such priority. It is unforgettable. Thank you for treating the kids like they matter as they have been through so much.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my LASIK experience at Dunes Eye Consultants became one of the most stressful and financially draining medical experiences I’ve ever had. At my initial LASIK consult, in June 2025, I arrived wearing contact lenses and was actually given a case to remove them right before scans were taken. As a long-term contact lens wearer, I later learned that patients are typically instructed to discontinue contacts before pre-operative measurements because contacts can temporarily alter corneal shape. I was never told this prior to my consultation, and no new baseline scans were taken before surgery. I was also noted to have dry eyes but was still approved as a LASIK candidate and encouraged to complete LipiFlow treatment first, which I did at the cost over an additional $1,000. My first surgery date was canceled after I had already signed paperwork, paid nearly $3,800, taken Xanax, and my husband had taken time off work to drive me. I was told there were issues with the laser machine. The actual LASIK surgery later proceeded, but afterward my vision was extremely blurry and fluctuated daily for months. I struggled to drive, work, care for my family, and even complete normal household tasks. I required numerous follow-up visits, additional eye exams, prescription medications, drops, ointments, temporary contacts, additional glasses prescriptions, and ongoing treatment for dry eye and fluctuating vision. There were moments where I was crying on the phone due physical symptoms and emotional distress while trying to get help. Some staff members were kind and helpful, but overall communication often felt inconsistent, disorganized, or dismissive. I often left appointments feeling rushed or confused about the treatment plan. I also repeatedly struggled to obtain copies of my records and scans. The most upsetting experience occurred during a scheduled enhancement appointment in April 2026. After waiting for hours, I was told the procedure would not be performed and a completely different surgical plan was presented. During that visit, I felt dismissed when expressing concerns about the ongoing financial burden this process had caused my family, and I ultimately left the office in tears. No follow up attempt was made from the office. By the end of this process, I had spent over $5,000 out of pocket plus substantial lost wages for both myself and my husband. Despite paying for the additional post-LASIK care coverage, I was still being charged copays and told certain follow-up care was considered “above and beyond standard post-LASIK care.” I understand that LASIK outcomes can vary and complications can happen. My frustration comes from the lack of communication, consistency, empathy, and accountability throughout the process. Most importantly, after everything, I still do not have the vision outcome I was originally promised and am stilly relying on glasses and contacts.

I recently scheduled an appointment online to address some issues with tear duct plugs that had been placed by an optometrist at their facility. When I arrived at the office, they had no record of the appointment, though I had received a confirmation that my request had been received. I was disappointed as the plugs are loose and scratching my eyes, plus the drive was 120 miles round-trip. Ironically (or not) once I had returned to my car, I received an email telling me that appointment time was no longer available. Please do not try to schedule online, as it is not an actual scheduling platform and apparently it is not closely monitored. I've always felt the pressure of upselling at this facility and this simply drives home the fact that this is not the optometrist for me.

Dr. Ferguson is so knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients. Explained everything thoroughly with pictures of my eye and what was causing my problem.
