I've always gone to Costco to get my eyes checked and to order my contacts and glasses because it's such a simple process. Well, they changed the process and now it's no longer simple. In the past, all I've had to do was make a quick phone call to put an order in and it would be shipped to me in a week or two. If there was ever a problem with or questions about my prescription, it was a quick phone call to the independent optometrist who could walk the prescription over to the optical department and clear up any confusion. Well, I called today and was told they are no longer accepting orders over the phone and that I need to do it online at Costco.com or in-person. So, I hop on Costco.com and get logged in, only to realize that my prescription isn't linked to my account in any way. I call the optical department AGAIN to ask for help and I'm told that the independent optometrist needs to fax the prescription over to me. I don't know what year this employee is living in, but here in 2026, fax machines are far and few between. So that really isn't even a viable option. I ask if he's able to give me my prescription information over the phone and he starts to argue that I will need a physical copy anyway to make the online order and therefore has to transfer me. Only to transfer me to the optometrist WHO IS GONE FOR THE DAY. It really is so frustrating to not be helped in the ways you are asking for help in. And to receive such flippant responses. I've heard of lots of great experiences at Eyeglass World and unfortunately it seems like I just need to take my business there. Bummed because I love Costco, but this new process in the optical department is the worst.

Nasty representative in customer service. I called to ask a simple question, but it felt like I was being a total burden. She even hung up before I could finish the second part of the question. If you are that unhappy with your job, please just quit.

Great place to get prescription and your glasses too at good prices. They have a discount for additional pairs right now (50$!) The Hispanic lady who helped me (Nelly, Nina?) was patient and kind to me. Great service.

Costco needs a new optometrist! This is not Costco standard. Terrible receptionist, “manager” she claimed she was until I spoke with the actually manager. I’ve been in store 3-4 times the past year and she is always rude, doesn’t even try to help or answer questions. So put out to have clients that she leaves the door closed and glares or rolls eyes if you open it. Today was the worst though. She belittled us for scheduling an appointment without knowing that they don’t partner with our insurance, when I actually had! And I’ve used it there multiple times, same network, same plan. Tried to charge us a cancellation fee for wasting her time. Before booking, I knew they were separate from Costco and I used their own website to confirm insurance, co-pays and all. This girl refused us and was completely wrong and so rude! Later when I yelled at the manager about her behavior he was defensive until he looked it up and confirmed that our date of birth and plan matched their own system and previous records to see we were correct and he apologized for her behavior. But this is beyond ridiculous to be treated the way she does every time. I’m stupid for returning hoping it would be a different person, but not anymore. He has lost our business and that of many other people by the looks of it just because of her behavior and lack of attempt to even look into the one single insurance they partner with to see we were covered there.

Just plain dumb!!! I went to pick up my new glasses that I ordered around 5:15 ish on December 17th. The woman who handed me my new pair picked up my old ones which were taped up because they were broken. She then proceeded to fold them forcefully. People with common sense would be able to see that you couldn’t fold them any further without breaking them. And on top of that she didn’t even apologize for snapping them in half! She just stared at me as I took them from her hands. Absolutely shocked! I needed my old pair to see while driving!!! If I can recall she was wearing a dark green crew neck shirt. Don’t touch other people’s glasses unless you have clear instructions to do so!!!
