I had a really great experience at Costco Vision Center at Fredericksburg. Doc. Mohamed Ashfaq was really awesome. He was thorough, explained everything very simply especially the vision test process and glaucoma exam, and didn’t rush the appointment at all. I felt like he actually cared and wanted to make sure I understood my results, definitely provided superb client service. ms Lena at the front desk was so kind and welcoming from the start. She made check-in quick and had a genuinely warm attitude. Honestly, one of the best eye appointments I’ve had. professional and friendly environment. i would go there again and definitely recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dr. Ashfaq is a very personable and thorough doctor! It was easy to set up an appointment and I felt cared about. Easy insurance and front desk process. The bad reviews are for old staff or the glasses-making part. Dr. Ashfaq is lovely.
Great store, but a heads-up regarding Costco Optical: the independent eye doctor here doesn't see patients under 14 years old. My suggestion to corporate/management is to clearly post these clinic-specific age restrictions online per location to save everyone time. Additionally, it would be a huge benefit to members if this location partnered with a pediatric optometrist. Standardizing this service to fit the majority of your other stores and competitors would go a long way in ensuring all family members are taken care of.
I have been a patient Dr Ashfaq optometrist for over 15years, and their service has always been highly professional. However, today they truly exceeded my expectations. I experienced some urgent symptoms and, despite their busy schedule, the staff went out of their way to fit me in for a same-day appointment. Everyone I interacted with was not only efficient but also incredibly empathetic and understanding of my situation. Dr. Ashfaq in particular, was outstanding—thorough, kind, and extremely professional. He took the time to clearly explain my condition and all of my treatment options, which helped put my mind at ease. I genuinely appreciate the level of care and attention I received during a stressful time. I highly recommend this practice for both routine eye care and urgent needs!
I chose this place for my eye exam because it would be convenient to do my shopping afterward; however, I was unfortunately attended to at reception by a woman who appeared to be from India. From the start, she either didn't know how or didn't want to ask for my documents politely. Then she told me I didn't have coverage and that I had to pay, without realizing she was misspelling a number. So I called my insurance company to speak with her (because of my limited English), but she refused. This led to an argument, and I left without having the appointment. In conclusion, think twice before choosing this place if you want to avoid a bad experience and wasting your time.
