The doctors i have seen have been pleasant and professional. No complaints there. I called the office the other day and told the receptionist that because my eyes have been bothering me (strain and headaches), i thought i needed to be seen sooner than the appointment i already had scheduled two and a half months hence. She told me i probably needed new glasses and she would give me an appointment with the optician. I replied that i needed an eye exam with the doctor first to see if my prescription had changed. She typed a long note while i waited on the line, and then told me the optician would call me. The optician left a message a while later stating she understood i needed new glasses and to call her back for an appointment. I didn't. While the receptionist was trying to be helpful, her response was above her pay grade. SInce when do receptionists decide what the issue is and how it should be resolved? I was both amused and annoyed. I will wait for my already- scheduled appointment but, as a gatekeeper, the receptionist needs to understand her role and the doctors need to be aware of how they are being represented.
