Dr. Mendelblatt was able to see me same day for eye infection. He also took time to ask if there was anything else I wanted. He and his staff have years of experience. Im fortunate to be his patient!

Dr Mendelblatt thank you thank you. This Valentines day you gifted me with cataract removal and a new lens. Which was repeated 2 weeks later on my other eye. What a difference. Macular degeneration is taking my center vision you gave me clear peripheral vision. You explained everything so clearly. You and your staff set me at ease and made it all happen smoothly. Thank you You are a wonder!

I believe there is something slightly unethical going on here. I visited and informed the doctor that I was in between insurance and he still prescribed me the name brand eye drop ($350) instead of the generic ($120). He didn’t even inform me there was a generic available. When I called to ask if there was a generic option, the receptionist told me that there was no possible cheaper option than the main brand. I did my own research and within 10 seconds and one Google search, identified the generic option. I called CVS and picked it up later in the day. The pharmacist told me he would never prescribe anyone the name brand, that there was no difference. I called back Dr Mendelblatts office to address this concern and the receptionist hung up on me. I believe that there may be some kick backs happening from the pharma reps to this doctor.

I apologize for this review, firstly. I have seen both he and his father, Dr. Frank Mendelblatt for over 32 years, after a car accident in 1992 that left me with 3rd cranial nerve damage. I have double vision, a "lazy" eyelid and the size of my pupil are all controlled by this "3rd cranial nerve". Living in Largo, it was a bit of a drive to his office, in St. Pete, but my eyes are worth it, right? I have moved up to Holiday now and drove down to St. Petersburg yesterday, 10/23/2023, for my annual eye-check. I know my double vision wil never go away however, I JUST FOUND OUT from a friend about getting a prism in my glasses to correct this. Yesterday, I went in to see him, after being ten minutes late (I did call to let them know), chatted with the office staff and nurses, I get my eye dilated and then I get to see Dr. Mendelblatt. I advised him that I am coming from Holiday, it was was not a big deal (my spouse would say otherwise) because I have been with this practice for more than half of my life. I then asked him about the prism and he advised he can do that and "HE CAN DO ANYTHING". I told him thank you and left for the hour drive home and excitedly went to the local Sam's Club optic dept, to get new glasses with my prescription. "There's nothing on this rx that shows for a prism" WHAT???? I gave the girl the phone number to Mendelblatt she called and "they looked in your chart and they don't see where he prescribed a prism". I called myself, at 3pm mind you, and "he's gone for the day". I called and spoke to Mendellblatt's office this morning and the office staff advised me that I can come in for another visit to get the prism. Not happening! I told them "after 32 years of eye care, this office has failed me First of all, in the 32 years I've been seeing he and/or his father, not once was a prism mentioned to me nor did he check my eyes to get me the rx for the prism that I needed." I called back and told Cheryl, that I hate to leave but "I cannot nor will not give my eyes nor service to someone so inept not to remember my conversation with him. 32 years and no mention of a prism!" "Oh yeah, sure we can do surgey but that might over-correct itself" Dr. Frank said, back in 1992 when my eye was still healing. I have had double vision for over half of my life so I guess I'm used to it, right? WRONG!
