I visited Guthrie Corning Walk-In on a Sunday for my 8 year old son and experienced a wait time of over two hours. I asked if they were able to coordinate with Guthrie Big Flats Walk-In to compare wait times, but learned they do not routinely communicate. Thankfully, the Corning staff was kind enough to call on my behalf and confirmed that Big Flats had no wait at that time. After a quick 10 minute drive, we were seen within five minutes of arriving. The visit was efficient, convenient, and greatly appreciated, especially on a Sunday. Based on this experience, I would recommend some type of collaboration system between Guthrie Corning and Big Flats locations. Improved communication around wait times could improve both patient experience and provider workflow, particularly during high traffic and weekend hours.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent visit at Guthrie in Big Flats on April 29th around noonish. The front desk receptionist appeared/acted as if I was bothering her.The interaction was flat and a bit disengaging. There was no warmth, no eye contact, and no real acknowledgment that I was a person rather than just a chart number. Nothing offensive happened-it was very transactional, like going through the motions. A little more energy and personal engagement would go a long way for patients who may already be anxious about their appointment.
Unfortunately for this walk in clinic I find the doctors/NP’s to be very nice, considerate, compassionate people. But you have to get passed the receptionist who doesn’t let you finish a sentence and barely looks you in the eye, and there’s a 50/50 chance you get a nurse that treats your mere presence as an inconvenience to them. I’ve had some very great nurses but also some very bad ones, most recently the latter. Their saving grace really is the docs/NP’s, otherwise I’d rather go to 5 star most times where everyone is kind and courteous from start to finish.
Walk-in clinic staff were professional, polite, and patient. Angela Parker, PA, examined my father, and had an excellent bedside manner. She listened and addressed all our questions to our satisfaction, and put my mind at ease. Her suspicions regarding diagnosis and next course of action were proved correct. I am thankful my father was examined by Ms. Parker.
Last evening my son and I had the WORST experience at the Arnot walk in and made our way here. The receptionist was the KINDEST and the nurse and NP were absolutely a pleasure to work with, they really turned our day around and supported my son and I through the process. Way to go- this team really showed up in a moment of pain and frustration. Thankful for them! I won’t be going anywhere else.
