In response to the company's public statement, Your response contains contradictions that only strengthen my concerns. You now admit that I presented for a scheduled appointment but was not seen because the doctor had an "emergency." That part is true. However, after sending me away, my insurance was still billed, forcing me to file a secondary opinion request and open an investigation with my insurance company over charges for services I did not receive. If you now claim that no claim was ever submitted, then I welcome that evidence because my insurance records will speak for themselves. More importantly, your response attempts to minimize the fact that I was an existing patient. You state that no examination occurred on that particular day, yet you ignore that I had already been seen at your office before and already had records there. My new optometrist requested those records, which is why I repeatedly asked for them. For over 30 days, I called your office, left voicemails, sent a text message to your customer service number, and physically came to your office four separate times requesting my own medical records. I specifically asked the head doctor to review the security footage because your office falsely documented that I was "unruly and intoxicated." Despite those repeated requests, the doctor never once contacted me directly. When I finally returned after waiting more than a month, I explained that I simply wanted my records and an explanation. Instead of speaking with me, the doctor sent the manager to tell me to leave and promised that my paperwork would be provided within 48 hours. Given that I had already been ignored for over 30 days, I asked twice whether they would actually send the records this time. I asked because every previous promise had resulted in further delay. I did not refuse to cooperate. I was writing down my contact information because the manager requested it and was complying with instructions when the police were called. The claim that I was "disruptive" ignores what was actually happening. The manager repeatedly attempted to prevent me from speaking at a normal volume because another customer could hear me discussing how I had been treated. The concern appeared to be that other patients would hear my experience, not that I posed any threat. Even after promising to provide my records within 48 hours, the office told the responding police officer that I would have to obtain my records through my insurance instead. The officer himself requested my records, and they were still not produced. Your statement also says there was no attempt to improperly withhold my records. Yet the documented timeline speaks for itself: repeated phone calls, text messages, voicemails, multiple in-person visits, over 30 days of waiting, and finally being told to leave while still not receiving the documents I had requested all along. You further deny discrimination. I did not make that allegation casually. My belief is based on the totality of my experience: being sent away, falsely labeled as "unruly and intoxicated," repeatedly ignored by the doctor despite my requests for a review of the security footage, being denied timely access to my records, and having the police called while I was attempting to obtain documents that belonged to me. That pattern is what led me to believe I was treated differently. The head doctor never apologized, never contacted me personally, never explained the false notation in my chart, and never addressed my request to review the footage. Instead, I was repeatedly sent away through staff while my concerns went unanswered. Fortunately, these events are documented through phone records, text messages, insurance records, office visits, and the police report. I have initiated investigations with my insurance carrier and the appropriate authorities and will continue pursuing accountability. I stand by my statements because they reflect exactly what I experienced, and I believe the public deserves to know that experience before choosing this office for their care.

⸻ I had a great experience at Hemet Eye Care Center thanks to Lesa. She helped my granddaughter pick out her glasses, and she was amazing throughout the whole process. She was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made us feel comfortable and confident in our choices. On top of that, her energy was so warm and welcoming—it really made the visit enjoyable. She was patient, kind, and genuinely cared about helping us find the right fit. We truly appreciated her help and would definitely recommend asking for Lesa if you visit!

Edit** As a response to the company's letter, this company has humiliated me and lied multiple times. Its the classic lie against Black Women, as I was not disruptive, but I also demanded my paperwork because my new optometrist asked for what the previous treatment was. Others were there, and the manager didnt want me speaking at a normal volume because they could hear that you were being discriminatory, even so much so, that the police officer asked you for my records and you denied him as well in the police report. The manager wanted me to not say a word and leave, because it is embarrasing when others here how this company has treated me. My insurance was billed, and I have already submitted paperwork to open an investigation on the illegal charges. So, i am glad that you have confessed to not charging my insurance. This review comment will be added as evidence of you denying you even saw me as a patient. I even had to submit a secondary opinion application because i was charged for a service i never recieved. The doctor had an "emergency," asked me to come back at 2pm, and I stated that I was not able to, so I asked for my $25 dollars back for an exam that should be free with my insurance as well. I was a patient, and you have seen me before this instance. I have medical records at this establishment, and calling the police on me was a clear scare tactic. Multiple laws have been broken, including keeping my records over 30 days. I left voicemails, sent a text back to the customer service number, and came up to the office physically 4 times waiting for my medical documents that you are now denying you even have. I spoke directly with the doctor and asked them to review footage of the instance they falsely alleged i was unruly and intoxicated. Every single thing that I have said is the Truth. I demand justice for the actions of this company. ‐------- This place is racist toward Black people. They brought me in for a scheduled appointment, only to send me away claiming that the doctor had an "emergency." Despite never receiving treatment, they still billed my insurance and falsely documented that I was "unruly and intoxicated." I contacted the office and informed them that these allegations were completely false and amounted to a defamatory accusation. I requested that the head doctor review the security camera footage, respond to my concerns, and provide me with my medical records—including the records containing the false allegations and all other treatment records—so that I could transfer my care to a new doctor. Instead of complying, they delayed providing my medical records beyond the legally required 30-day period and repeatedly forced me to return to the office. On my fourth visit requesting the records, they claimed that the doctor still had not had time to address the issue and asked me to leave. I explained that I would not keep making unnecessary trips and that I was willing to wait to speak with the doctor. After making me wait, they still refused to let me speak with the doctor and again demanded that I leave. They also told me not to discuss the situation at the front counter because they did not want other patients hearing about how they had treated me. Rather than resolve the issue or provide my records, they called the police. When the police arrived, the office staff stated that they had dismissed me as a patient and that I would have to obtain my records through my insurance company. They still failed to provide my medical records as required and instead appeared more concerned with covering up their conduct than addressing my legitimate concerns. I am contacting the appropriate medical board and requesting a full investigation into this matter. I have also reported the issue to my insurance company and initiated an investigation. I will not accept being ignored, falsely accused, or treated as though I do not matter. I believe I was subjected to discriminatory treatment because I am Black, and I intend to continue pursuing accountability and informing others about my experience.
