Houston Eye Associates

Dr. Chang and the staff and associates at Houston Eye Associates are phenomenal!!! From the moment I entered the building, until the time I left, I was treated with the utmost respect. Dr. Chang is extremely knowledgeable, informative and highly focused on my medical care. I learned many facts about my eye and eye health that was previously unbeknownst to me. I will return for cataract surgery in a few weeks and I feel confident and comfortable under his care! I will not hesitate to recommend Dr.Chang to anyone seeking a competent eye doctor situated within a community of wonderful health care professionals.

This place has good reviews on Google, but horrible on Yelp and I wish I'd read those before going to this office. As with others on Yelp, I had a bad experience with this office, but it wasn't about wait times per se (although they were ~20 minutes for each visit). I first saw Dr. Fish, an ophthalmologist, to discuss lens implants. She was good and I liked her, but we decided it was too early and I could try contacts instead. I then saw Dr. Laurenzi after waiting weeks. She did the initial contact exam, but then I never saw her after that during my next two visits, for which I had to wait weeks in between. Her communication skills are severely deficient, given that rather than talk to me directly, she pawned me off on her assistants, even when I had questions for her. Eventually, I gave up and just got my prescription to take elsewhere for glasses or contacts. Bottom line - it was a horrible patient interaction and experience. I'll be looking for another optometrist and checking other review platforms besides Google going forward.

Dr. Kristin Minkowski is an amazing eye doctor & surgeon! I’m starting my 4th year with her and I couldn’t be happier! I was referred to her by one of her former professors (well know in her on right as well) when I moved. She is highly qualified, and personable. A great asset to Houston Eye Associates!

Went in to look at frames with an existing prescription. After signing in, I was asked to wait while they verified my insurance. I spent about 40 minutes browsing before the staff member returned and said my insurance wasn’t renewed yet and I’d have to wait until September or pay out of pocket. When I asked for clarification—since my last purchase was in January 2025 and I was told benefits renew every 12 months—he didn’t explain further and told me to check with my insurance company myself. The lack of clear communication and the dismissive response were frustrating. I would have appreciated a more thorough explanation or willingness to help resolve the confusion.

Once I was able to book an appt.and see Dr.Fish and her staff,I was very pleased. MY exam was thorough and I was seen in a timely manner. HOWEVER,scheduling the appt.was challenging. ATleast two persons hanged up on me.The last person who booked my appt.was professional and apologetic for my experience.
