My wife Margaret had cateract surgery by Dr Van 6 months ago. She had been unable to drive at night and her side vision was getting limited. Now she has 20/20 vision and drives at night. Dr Van did a perfect job and her staff are very helpful. After surgery, Dr Van called to check on her progress. If she needed help, she saw her right away. My wife has worn glasses since she was 7 years old and finds it wonderful to see perfectly. Her hospital staff also were helpful and efficent. The whole team works to make the patient feel comfortable during the process.

Dr. Bernard Milstein did my Lasik surgery back in 2009. When I went for the consultation, I told him my goal was to be able to see the numbers in a phone book without glasses. After the exam, he told me that I just needed surgery on my left eye (mono-vision) because my right eye was "perfect". I had the surgery and was amazed at the result. My vision was perfect and I could read the numbers in the phone book. I recently had a followup appointment and my vision is the same, still perfect, after 5 years. I could never trust anyone else but Dr. Milstein with my eyes
I will never return to this clinic! I made an appointment 6 weeks ago because I can no longer see good at night or to do my work. And now 2 days before my appointment I am told I will have to reschedule. The reason they gave me was because I didn't ASK for both an eye exam AND a checkup. When I complained to the caller, she hang up on me. Great service, NOT!
Dr. Milstein did a great job on my Lasik surgery. My only complaint is feeling like they are judging me for not wanting the mono-vision surgery. Every time I go in for my check ups, someone makes a comment about it. "It's such a shame, mono-vision is so amazing." My most recent visit the tech or nurse (I don't know her title) made the comment "you're going to get tired of needing reading glasses" in a condescending tone. Mono-vision is NOT for everyone. Pushing it so hard is off-putting. My goal was to not be dependent on glasses for my day to day life (driving, walking, etc.). I never had the expectation of not needing reading glasses. I just didn't want to have to spend 200+ dollars a year on prescription glasses. With the mono-vision, I STILL couldn't read without reading glasses, but the cheap readers you can get at Walgreens weren't right, because I had 2 different prescriptions in my eyes. Now that I have the full distant vision surgery, regular readers work great, and I don't feel like I have one eye blurry all the time. Trust your patients to know what they want. Isn't that the point of the 1-week mono-vision trial? I stated I didn't like it, and was judged from then on. Other than that, I'm thrilled to be able to get out of bed and see. I don't have to worry about my glasses breaking and needing someone to give me a ride home because I can't drive. I was legally blind without my glasses before the surgery. I'm so happy to be able to see!
Rahman Sherrod is not a patient, that's my grandson. I'm the patient, Rosie Sherrod. I've always had a good experience with your staff. I know professional when I see them. They are courteous, and make you feel at ease. Dr. Milstein is a doctor I trust with my eyes. He will be my doctor forever, no matter where I move to in the state of Texas. Oh yea, he gives Tootsie Rolls?
