The medical care itself was excellent. The exam was thorough, the staff were professional, and I was genuinely impressed by the advanced diagnostic technology and comprehensive approach to eye care. From a clinical perspective, this was one of the best eye care experiences I've had. Unfortunately, my experience with billing and prescription release left me extremely disappointed. As a fully dual eligible Medicare and Medicaid beneficiary with QMB protections, along with primary UMR coverage, I was charged additional copays and contact lens fitting fees that I did not believe I should be responsible for under my coverage. I was also informed that my eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions would not be released until those charges were paid. My understanding is that the FTC's Eyeglass Rule requires eyeglass prescriptions to be provided to patients following the exam, regardless of whether payment disputes or eyewear purchases remain outstanding. My understanding is also that providers participating in Medicaid generally may not bill QMB beneficiaries for prohibited Medicare cost-sharing amounts. Because of those protections, the experience felt unfair, financially burdensome, and inconsistent with both the quality of care I otherwise received and my understanding of the applicable rules surrounding dual eligible patients. I sincerely hope the office reviews these policies and practices, because the doctors, staff, and technology were otherwise outstanding and I would gladly return if these concerns were addressed.

The south hill office was great 5 stars. Auburn location not so much. Receptionist was great. First person that started the exam was lacking in personality and just talks to you like your in a prison. Dr wasn’t a whole lot better. South hill dr was great on previous visits.

I've been going to Kosnoski Eye since the mid 80's. There has been many changes and a lot of turnover. Every year, I go back. Today, I show up to my appt, early, to check in. My appt was at 920. I wasn't called until 945. The staff have always been super friendly. There was no notice they were running behind, no apologies for this either. Some in the office were friendly, others, no introductions, no small talk, only direction. To top it off, they left a voice mail on my phone for my late husband, who died almost 3 years ago and they were actually one of the first providers I told. Me and my kids will be going elsewhere next year. It makes me sad to leave after so many years, its just not the friendly environment its always been.

This is my second year going to Kosnoski Eye Care. Each time has been an absolute pleasure. The staff are professional and personable. The doctor, knowledgeable and communicative. I feel like they listen and really care about the patient experience. Glasses selection is just what I wanted. Highly recommend.
