Buyer beware! Here’s the verbatim response I received from this practice: “Yes, we do sell our frames off the board unless you specifically tell us you would like a new frame ordered.” To my knowledge, that is not typical business practice - who assumes they’re getting the display version off the shelf? I fell in love with a pair of frames that came in two colors, olive and navy. The shop was using the olive pair on display as prescription SUNglasses, and the navy pair as your typical daily wear, clear lenses. I ordered the olive color but made it clear I was using it for daily wear (ordered with clear prescription lenses so I thought that would be extra obvious). Despite that, my new pair of glasses came with heavy duty, dark nose pads meant for sunglasses and the shop refuses to swap them out for cohesive looking clear nose pads (claiming the manufacturer only makes the olive frame as sunglasses). The frames are identical besides color, so that sounds like a silly made up rule. The shop refuses to take accountability and exchange nose pads. The unique anti-slip nose pads from this Japanese brand (Dita Lancier) are the compelling reason why I chose this frame in the first place. The “best they can offer” is to screw on generic clear pads - but that’s not why I paid for this specific brand and their proprietary material / design. Not sure why they can’t just order me new frames with the correct nose pads, and keep the display pair for their shop… very stingy behavior. They do not offer returns or exchanges. Posting this to recommend you be wary. I’m greatly disappointed to have paid so much for a pair of glasses that I cringe at every time I look in the mirror. UPDATE: I went to the Dita storefront in SF and they ordered the correct nosepads and replaced them FOR FREE. Even though I did not buy the glasses from that store, they were ok taking the responsibility and picking up the slack for this optometry business. Which also means this business lied to me in saying that 1) the manufacturer does not sell nosepads separately and 2) the frames I chose only come in sunglasses format. I hope they’re ashamed of their audacity to make up excuses to their clients and backtrack on their word

First and LAST time using Laurel Optometry. They have super kind staff but their “quality control” is absolute garbage. I ordered prescription sunglasses on August 29, 2025. My glasses didn’t come back for a month and they are always closed (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday). Only being open 3 days a week makes it extremely difficult for customers. I came in on Thursday, October 9, 2025 to get the glasses and they were already scratched. Never even worn and they had a gash in the lens. How is this possible that not a single person noticed this? I will not be doing business with them ever again.
Been going to Laurel Optometry for 5 years and always loved them until this recent visit. This last visit in November was awful. It took 2 months for my contacts to come. I had to keep messaging and calling about my contacts. Typically contacts only take 1 to 2 weeks. I was told I would be getting a refund and never received it. When I went pick up my contacts. I was handed my contacts, they didn’t make sure the fit was correct, didn’t make sure they didn’t give me a head ache or if I could see out of them. It very unprofessional. I’ve been getting contacts since 17 and it’s always been the same way until now. I never received a receipt for my purchase. I will not be going back. It’s sad because I live down the street and have been going for years.
We LOVE Laurel Optometry and we're so glad we found them. While Emma has been the absolute best, all the staff are wonderful and the doctors too. Can't do better. Thanks!
