I went for my annual exam recently and saw Dr. Haberman. A tech person, Clayton, did all the preliminaries. The staff here is excellent and Clayton specifically. He used all the machines like an expert. They have an extensive children's product supply here, if you need it. And their top-of-the line cosmetics are available plus many more frames and supplies too.

I have not been impressed with Makar EyeCare front desk or billing processes. The optometrists and optometrist assistants I have interacted with have been excellent. Multiple times over a year after a service I will get a bill. I will have already been seen for my next years exam (no mention of outstanding bill at appt) and then when I get a bill for the current year exam there is a surprise 300 dollars for last year. I was also encouraged to sign up to with a "marlo" assistant for ordering my contacts, however I then ordered my contacts through their office/through this and it was too early per my insurance so I was unable to use my benefit.
I had a great experience the first time I went. Great exam and doctor. However, it is nearly impossible to set up an appointment through the phone. I have called from May-July through different days and times and front desk never answers. I cannot even cancel my appointment because of no answer. They have left me numerous voicemails as well and whenever I call back it is back to normal answers constantly. It is like a goose chase. I am disappointed because I actually enjoyed my service, but having to call multiple times and crossing your fingers they answer is terrible. Also, the tone of front desk was not that friendly either when they finally answered…
A friend needed me to accompany her to Makar Eyecare this past week and I was very impressed. The staff was professional and accommodating and the facility was lovely. The comfortable waiting area included a great space for kids. Their selection of glasses was very extensive with frames available in all colors and price points. Dr. Clark took his time to explain procedures and answered all our questions patiently. With weekend hours they are able to accommodate those with hectic weekday schedules as well.
Update :: I got a call just a day or two after this review and Shannon ended up dedicating her next few days to straightening out the issue and the doctor was willing to waive any costs I may have. Definitely a turn around for service and I genuinely appreciate the effort and respect put in from Shannon for helping me and keeping on it so quickly. Original 1 star review:: Shady insurance billing procedures, was not notified of a billing code change in my yearly check that changed to a medical appointment instead. Their patient forms do not say anywhere that they need to inform you so they know exactly what they’re doing. The issue I have was that I was never notified when checking out from my appointment and then suddenly sent a $900 that they the “sent back to insurance” and changed to a $600 bill . This was for a diagnosis I wasn’t even notified I was being diagnosed with, it was merely discussed and check on with extra fees for testing I wasn’t made aware of either. They still have not had the doctor contact me after a man entire year and I am currently notifying my insurance of how they do business. Should have been a standard yearly check with a small copay and instead was turned into something ”out of their hands”. If the doctor would have just contacted me and been a decent human being about it, I would’ve never written this. It’s a known issue with our healthcare professionals all around the country of not having to notify patients of billing changes and then saying a big ‘ol “OH WELL, sucks to suck” when we can’t pay it.
