I had a very disappointing experience with the front desk at Metropolitan Vision Downtown. One of the front desk staff members was cold, impatient, and unhelpful throughout my visit.
My biggest concern is the billing and insurance handling. I have insurance, and based on my insurance, I should only be responsible for a $20 copay. Before paying, I repeatedly asked the front desk to check or clarify my insurance coverage, but my questions were dismissed. Instead, I was charged without a clear explanation. I was later told that a single eye exam would cost around $400, but I was not given a clear itemized breakdown or a transparent explanation of the charges.
This made the billing process feel very confusing and unfair, especially because I tried to ask about the insurance issue before payment.
To be fair, another front desk staff member was very nice, and the doctor was professional, patient, and helpful. However, the poor attitude from one front desk staff member, the lack of clear insurance verification, and the unclear billing process made my overall experience very frustrating. I hope the clinic improves its front desk training, insurance verification process, and billing transparency.
