The wait time here is absolutely unacceptable. I checked in at 10 AM and, THREE hours later, I’m still sitting in the waiting area waiting to be seen by the ophthalmologist. It feels like they consistently overbook appointments while having too few doctors available. Every single visit involves an insanely long wait, and today is no different. Other patients in the waiting room are saying the same thing, so this clearly isn’t an isolated issue.

I would note 1 ⭐️ is not against the staff at this location. It is for the CEO and Board at Middletown Medical. They have put their own bottom line ahead of the needs of the patients. The park lot at the East Main St location is unsafe and inadequate. The corporate assembly approach has taken precedence over the patient’s wellbeing, care and safety. Staff at this location unfairly have to field complaints, that the admission fails to address. Attempts to contact and type of administrator, Board Member or the CEO are met with Call Center staff either disconnecting calls or refusing to forward them. Patients are forced to miss (needed) appointments after circling lots for hours, without being able to park. Construction and delivery vehicle block access daily. Vehicle are continuously double parked or parked in non-parking areas, which obstruct traffic and add to the unsafe environment. The CEO and Board should be held personally and solely accountable when the inevitable injuries or accidents occur. They should also be ashamed for letting this issue not only go unaddressed but worsen.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this practice to anyone seeking thorough or patient focused care. They prioritize volume of the waiting room and speed over quality, and this results in us patients not receiving the attention or comprehensive care that we deserve. Long waits, terrible call center, many appointments rescheduled last minute. This practice falls short in many, many departments.
A medical worker named Amelia was incredibly rude and rude! I took time out of my busy schedule to take my mom to see an ophthalmologist. My mom had a stroke 5 years ago, which resulted in limited movement on her left side. Despite this, she was very cooperative, sitting in the chair for the eye exam. However, from the very beginning, Amelia rudely and violently forced my mom's eyes open with her long fingernails, She didn't even disinfect her fingers beforehand ! And she didn't inform us beforehand—like a butcher treating an animal! My mom's eyes were already watering from Amelia's fingernails, and she couldn't open them! Unexpectedly, Amelia continued to command my mom to open her eyes and look directly at her! Then, she violently and quickly raised the chair, pressing the chair and the machine hard against my mom's thigh! My mom was screaming in pain! But Amelia didn't even apologize ! Instead, she rudely said : "Okay, I'll get another girl to handle you. You weren't listening to me!" and then stormed off like a robber! We were completely bewildered and couldn't believe we were being treated so badly by a "medical worker"! My mom awas shocked and terrified; she didn't want to stay there a second longer, so I took her away. I seriously doubt how a woman with such long, sharp, glass-decorated fake nails could work in the medical field (especially ophthalmology)?! She would rudely poke your eyes with her long nails without sterilizing her fingers at all ?! She pinched your legs with the machine and chair, causing pain, but didn't apologize or even move the chair ! She even bossed you around condescendingly, and then ran away after doing all that?! My God ! How can a medical institution have such a thuggish, utterly uncivilized person working there?! You terrified us! You wasted our time! And my mom will never go to an ophthalmologist again because you've left her traumatized ! My mom's eyes were red for hours! Her left leg is still hurting! (Because her left leg was already affected by a stroke!) I hope her left leg doesn't affect her walking in the next few days, otherwise I'll have to spend time suing you ! ( I don't want to do this because I'm very busy, but if you bully and hurt my mother like this, I will do anything to get justice for her! )
I was treated for severe depression here with Spravato, a medication that must be administered intranasally, in office, for monitoring. However, they also offered a less than therapeutic setting in which to administer the medication; it was a stark contrast from my experience with Spravato in the past at a practice down south, who went out of their way to not over monitor, and provide a truly comfortable, both physically and emotionally, setting. It seems they don’t understand that set and setting affect efficacy of the medication, not just the medication in and of itself. I wouldn’t recommend Middletown Medical, especially if you’re dealing with severe disease, such that you really need to be supported, as that support was not offered to me. It's a shame, considering the pressing need for compassionate mental health care in our country.
