This is a tale of two visits. When I booked an appointment for my special needs son, I did not realize that it was a "virtual" visit. When I received the reminder text, I learned that the doctor would not be in the same room with Shane. I was comfortable with it so I did not cancel when given the opportunity. Shane has had no difficulty over the years completing all the pre-exam testing, so I did not expect it to go any differently this year. Sadly, he was not able to complete the first test, capturing a high-res image of both retinas for the doctor to actually examine virtually. He tried for 20 minutes, but just couldn't keep do it. The tech was wonderful, he was patient and kind throughout. We rescheduled for a second visit. The second visit was wonderful! We skipped the high-res image and sailed through the other tests. The doctor was great with Shane, understanding that he is profoundly hard of hearing and reads lips, he engaged with Shane very well. He listened to my concerns that brought us in early for this exam. He completed the exam, answered all my questions, and explained what to expect in the next year. We picked out new frames, and ordered two pair of glasses. They fit him well, and he is very happy with them.
