Highly disappointed with the lack of communication. Have messaged into the patient portal 3 times to correct a clerical issue and obtain information. Followed up with an email as well and haven’t heard anything back. Definitely shouldn’t be this hard to get a response back and don’t understand the need for a patient portal if it’s ignored. My first message in was on 3/27/26 and still no response.

I went to ocean eye to get a exam for my drivers license expiring so I did the exam and once done I was ask would I like to pick out my frames which I did so after my insurance paid 300 towards exam and frames I owed over $500 so once I got home and was looking over the form for the DMV it said I didn’t need corrective lenses, so I called to confirm which they did say that and said well your glasses will help you see better at night while driving . This is an absolute lie and a rip off I can see better without the glasses and there no refund so I then had to do bi focal so atleast not waste all my money for reading and was charged $35 more dollars now it’s more complicated using them so I don’t even wear them. My Readers from cvs is way better for me so it could help me close up . I see why they don’t put prices on there frames . I would have been better off going to Walmart . Also my husband used them as well and felt the same way .
Very disappointed in this place. My son has been going here since he was little and he's 17 now. He has medicaid, I was sent a text last night stating it was time for him to schedule his appointment and when I went to do so every place I went to said 'does not accept medicaid.' That was news to me, I had gotten no letters or text stating I needed to find a new eye doctor because of this. So called today and was told thats been effective since January....JANUARY! How can you go not letting your clients know you are longer accepting a certain insurance? I mean. A heads up would have been nice so I could find another eye doctor for my son instead of having to do so last minute! Very unprofessional, I would at one point in time recommended this place but no longer. (To the owner of Ocean eye trolley rd) No apparently you don't do your best to reach out to your clients, because I was told not by one, two, but three different people that you did not reach out to let people know that changes in insurance that you took were changing. So please keep thst BS to yourselves. I still will not and do not recommend Ocean eye to anyone. Funny because I asked for my son's name to be taken off a call list and text list and I'm still getting text and phone calls for him to set up a appointment because he's overdue. I've found a better place thanks, but no thanks.
The worst. It took nine months for me to get my glasses and honestly, they still aren’t right. I’m gonna have to take them somewhere else because I’m so done with this place. The staff are very rude and talk about customers in front of other customers. I complained about all of this and was treated horribly. They honestly do not care about their customer service or getting your prescription right. Edit- I see your response- who do I contact? I have talked to your office countless times and complained. Is there someone else? This started over a year ago at this point.
I’ve gone here for three appointments and in the last couple of years it’s definitely gone downhill. I went in for an eye exam and when the doctor would ask me one or two I told her repeatedly that I couldn’t see clearly out of either, but she ignored me and continued to move on with the process. She told me she found my new prescription. I was very confused and said “how, I couldn’t see clearly with any of the slides you put over my eyes” she replied “oh your eyes just need to get used to them.” I was under the impression glasses were made to fit the individuals eyes and not you get a random pair of glasses and force your eyes to work with them. I’m very disappointed and when I talked to the woman at the front desk, she told me I could call back in a couple of days if the prescription still wasn’t working for me and that I would have to pay for another eye exam, even though the first one was not taken seriously or done properly.
