Dr. John Spaeth Jr, OD Is the most kind, thorough doctor for eye care. He explains everything so you can understand it. He picked up on some subtle early changes in my eye exam and now is following me closer for this. His office is convienient and all the staff are kind. They also have a great selection of both prescription glasses and sunglasses.
The coating on my lens started chipping off after a year or two. No big deal I thought. So I stopped in to have the lens replaced. They told me I have to have a totally new exam at $120 to have a lens replaced. They didn't have availibility to do the exam or really know what they were talking about so now I wasted an hour at my normal Dr and am headed to Lens Crafters instead. The woman at the front desk told me to "look it up in the California rule book" after I asked what was stopping them from just fixing the lens.
A friend referred me to Ocean Ranch Optometry. What a great experience. After my detailed eye exam today, I ordered both contacts and lenses. Dr. Spaeth took the time to explain in detail the health of my eyes and the optimization of my eyesight. His staff were able to quickly evaluate my eyecare insurance plan and explain exactly what was covered and what was out of pocket for me. I live in Newport Beach, so it was a bit of a drive, but 100% worth it. I highly recommend this business to others.
I’ve been going to Dr. Spaeth for many years. He is knowledgeable and caring and he has my complete trust. Theresa is wonderful! She recently spent lots of time helping me choose the perfect frames and lenses. Such a great team at Ocean Ranch Optometry!

The optometrist was knowledgeable, professional, and patient, taking the time to explain each step of the exam and answering all of my questions.
