Pearle Vision

I was so disapointed today when I went in for an eye exam. I gave them my vision insurance information. They then asked for my medical insurance information. I was confused as to why but gave it. After they looked up my information they came out and told me that because I am diabetic they would have to use my medical insurance and due to me not meeting my deductable yet my exam alone would be over $140.00. I told her I don't think so, my doctor never sent me here, I see an Opthomologist for my diabetes, I am just looking to get new glasses. She said that she would ask the dr if we can just use my vision insurance. She came back and said the dr said that he would have to do the entire exam and then at the end of the exam he would have to see if they will be able to use the vision insurance. That is just rediculous and it feels like they are trying to scam insurance companies and people out of extra money. Iended up calling a few other eye exam places and none of them share their "policy" and found it weird that they would do that. I definitely won't be going back to them and suggest my friends and family stay clear of them as well.

I always have a great experience when I come to see Dr. Mutai. He is kind, friendly, and extremely thorough during eye exams. The staff is welcoming and makes you feel comfortable, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere. I’ve been a patient here for several years and continue to be very satisfied with the care I receive.

This is the second time using this location and it keeps on getting better every time. I want to recognize Amanda, who is the manager of the location and Christina, who is a new associate that started this past week. Amanda was providing guidance to Christina to ensure my purchase of two new glasses went flawless. Thank you both for an incredible experience. I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Thoroughly displeased with the lack of customer service at this particular location in St. Johns, FL. I called and spoke with an employee before the appointment to confirm insurance. They stated I was covered and could use my insurance at the appointment. When it came time to pay, they said I was inactive on the insurance policy. I said no problem, we'll work with insurance company, rectify the issue ASAP and return to pay as soon as the system shows me as active. You have all my info and I've always paid all my bills. They were adamant that I pay out of pocket rather than extending me the courtesy of correcting the issue with the eye insurance company. Had they not already confirmed my insurance was active prior to the appointment, and I could use it for payment, I would have corrected the issue beforehand. They wanted me to take responsibility for their mistake.

Dr Mutai and his office staff are exceptional. Very knowledgeable of vision insurance and benefits. Very happy with the service I received!
