Pediatric Eyecare Of Staten Island

Be very careful with this place. There were 4 people sitting at the front desk. None of them checked patients benefits or seen to know what they are doing. They told me they accept my insurance and took all the information over the phone. When I showed up for an appointment with my daughter, they said they will put it through medical insurance.But, my medical insurance apparently doesn't have vision benefits . But nobody checked my benefits and they didn't tell me any. Then they tell you they don't accept it , they are not in network after the appointment and they send you a bill for $400. This is the worst front office I have ever seen. None of the people know anything about insurance. Be very careful.

Dr.Derespinis is such a smart and caring physician. He takes his time to explain which is greatly appreciated. The staff is amazing, they work well to accommodate appointments. The upgrades to the office makes it a pleasure for both parents and children. We look forward to seeing Dr. D again. Great job!!

Dr. Cheung was absolutely fantastic with my son! My son is 5 years old with AuDHD, & was sent here when his pediatrician had too hard of a time with him when it came to his eye exam. The receptionists were very attentive & friendly. The technician that started some of the exam & had to put eye drops in my son's eyes for dilation, was also very kind & patient with him. The technician & Dr. Cheung both tried to make it fun/engaging for my son to participate in the exam. Even with some reluctance & some minor set-backs, (because of my son simply not wanting to do some parts of the test,) they were able to do what they needed to in the end to get the diagnosis. I'd recommend Dr. Cheung for any child, even more so if they may have a hard time at doctor's offices. Thank you to all of the staff for making the experience way better than I expected we'd have! 10/10
