I wish I could leave negative stars, this place doesn’t even deserve the 1…. I made an appointment for myself and my husband and specifically asked about a contact specific appointment because my husband has had glasses for one year now and due to his line of work contacts would be a nice option to have. I have worn contacts for years but I asked specifically if we needed a special appointment and if a 4:30 appointment time would be enough for a new contact wearer. They told me yes that would be fine. When we arrived the front desk was overall kind and we waited for a bit which is fine. Our tech was great but everything really went down hill from there. I was told that my eyes hadn’t really changed if anything I was wearing a little higher prescription. I asked the dr about this and that I didn’t really want to change my glasses for a little bit especially since I don’t wear them often and he said that was fine just if I get a headache I should change them. So I took that as my prescription is staying the same in my contacts (because there is only so much wiggle room in contacts) and my glasses are only if I get a headache. My husbands contact appointment the doctor was very rough. I have done contacts for probably 18 years now and I would not have been able to sit in that chair with that man trying to put contacts in my eyes. He did get the contacts on my husband and then my husband was trying to practice taking them out. They told us we had 5 more mins left and then they would need to remove the contacts and have us back next week which they would call us to schedule. I feel like we were kicked out to a degree and while I understand businesses have hours of operation I’m annoyed I specifically asked if we would have enough time to do the contacts for my husband who is new to eye wear in general and while he logically would like contacts due to his job the thought of touching his eye freaked him out. So I do not think that the appointment was good for my husband in any way. Well fast forward it’s been 2 weeks and we have not heard from them to reschedule and I do not have my prescription (which again didn’t change according to the doc that day). I called our insurance and was asked if I finalized my appointment. I asked the man what in the world that means and he told me that the doctor might not have finalized my exam. I told him I was not told anything about this but that the contacts I was given is lesser for my one eye and higher in my other eye than what I’ve had before. He told me I needed to finalize then, I told him that no I was not told I had to do anything at all and that my eyes according to the doctor didn’t change to change my contact rx. The man asked if I tried wearing the trial contacts and I told him no, why would I wear contacts that to my knowledge are the wrong prescription for my eyes. He said he would contact the office and said I should do the same. I told him that I ultimately do not want to come back to this place. I do not feel like we were treated fairly and when they handed me a $210 bill I was a little shocked. For $210 dollars we should have gotten that call back and a prescription. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy, such a waste of time and money. Which is very sad because somehow they have nice people working up front and a nice tech but the doctor was aggressive, and ultimately made me feel unwelcome and worry for my husband who was already scared about contacts but logically wanted to try. Feel like the doctor took my husbands hesitation and just ran through it.

After my eye exam, the prescription glasses they fitted for me did not work at all—my vision was worse. From the beginning, I was very clear in what I needed for glasses (for work and home) and after the exam expressed concerns that the fit and prescription did not feel right with my vision being worse, but those concerns were largely dismissed. The interactions felt more sales-driven than patient-focused. I was told to “try the glasses for a month” (not a week, as they claim), which also happened to be during the holiday season when I was traveling - and barely able to wear them due to how challenging they were. When I later called to ask about having the glasses refitted, I was told I would need to pay for another refraction exam. This was frustrating, especially since I had been apprehensive from the start and had clearly communicated that the glasses were not working for me. Because of this, I decided to seek a second opinion at Berthoud Eye Care, which turned out to be a blessing. Without sharing my prior experience, their prescription lenses and fitting were spot on, they took the time to listen and address my concerns with care and professionalism, and they immediately identified that the fitting of my (Premier Family Eye Care) glasses was off and likely the cause of my issues - and offered to adjust them. This experience made it clear how important attentive listening and patient-centered care truly are. I would strongly caution others when considering Premier Family Eye Care. On the other hand, I highly recommend Berthoud Eye Care—they were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on helping me see clearly.
This is a mix review as I found myself liking the doctor but not their office policies and regulation. I had made an appointment for my annual exam and I showed up at their Fort Collins location ( where I have been going for years prior to change of ownership), but I found out that my appointment was at their Loveland office. So, I made a new appointment since there wasn’t sufficient time to drive from Fort Collins to Loveland. My second appointment went well and I purchased a new pair of glasses but they charged me an additional $40.00 for missing my 1st appointment. A week later I picked up my glasses and all was fine till my dog got a hold of my glasses and gave it a good chew. Needless to say, the lenses on my new glasses were all scratched up and I couldn’t see much through them. I took the glasses back to their Loveland office and asked if they can replace the lenses since I have only had them for about two months. They told me that I have to buy a package and that was in excess of $500 if I want a new lenses. Frustrated, I just walked out and will never go back to this provider again.
I have been going yearly here since I was 11, (I am now 20) I always had the same doctor Dr. Tanner. He was the nicest, and most wonderful eye doctor ever. But recently I went there for my yearly. I had a different doctor which was fine, but my appointment with Dr. Starr made me feel belittled. When my prescription only went up by a little bit. He made jokes about me with the front desks lady right in front of me. He made it apparent that he did not want to deal with me. This made me want to turn away from this business that I once loved dearly. Maybe had a bad day, but regardless that is no way to treat another human being. Let alone a paying customer. I unfortunately not be returning. I wish the best of luck to Dr. Tanner and I appreciate his kindness.
My husband went to this place after Eye Center of NC quit taking our insurance and this place was recommended. After his eye exam, the doctor recommended a trial for contacts, which he already explained that he can’t wear those for work, but he reassured my husband that he would have better vision with them. He filled his safety glasses prescription for work with the prescription that they gave him and it was drastically different than his previous prescription. This lead to eye strain and pain. He was informed by his safety glasses company that he could get his benefit reinstated if he was unsatisfied with his prescription. My husband brought this up to precision and they denied his request due to it being past the time frame, even though they just ordered his trial contacts. Along with all of this, they also added unexpected charges that weren’t explained at the time of visit. Now we have to pay an extra $150 to have his prescription fixed from an office that cares about their patients. This company is unprofessional and lacks communication and customer service.
