I’m really disappointed with my experiences here. From my very first visit with Dr. Pakzad, I left feeling worse than when I came in. Instead of feeling supported, I felt judged and embarrassed about the condition of my eyes. She told me she did not feel comfortable prescribing contact lenses, but did very little to explain why or what I could do to improve the dryness until I started asking several follow-up questions myself. I should not have to pull basic care recommendations out of my doctor. I’ve now been here 2–3 times, and the office setup itself is also very uncomfortable. The lobby, receptionist desk, and pre-testing area are all in one very small shared space, which makes it feel like private health information can easily be overheard by other patients. For a healthcare office, that lack of privacy feels inappropriate. Every time I’ve had questions about insurance, the receptionist has been very standoffish and quick to dismiss the issue by saying I need to call my insurance myself. What has been especially frustrating is that when I try to explain the issue from my side, I’m often immediately told that what I’m saying is “inaccurate” rather than anyone taking the time to sit down, look into the problem, and help figure out where the misunderstanding is. The conversations tend to feel defensive and dismissive instead of patient-centered. Overall, I have consistently felt dismissed instead of cared for. Between the lack of empathy, poor communication, privacy concerns, and the tendency to tell patients they are wrong before fully hearing them out, this has not been a positive experience.

Dr. Pakzad is the most caring person. She takes the time to do her exam and listen to your questions. I have used her the last five years and wouldn’t trust anyone but her.
Prestige Eyecare provides an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff is friendly, professional, and very attentive, making you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The eye exam was thorough, and everything was clearly explained, which I really appreciated. They also have a great selection of frames to choose from.
I have been coming to Prestige eyecare for many years and now my kids are coming here too. Dr Pakzad is great and knowledgeable in helping me to keep my eyes healthy and my prescription the same. I would highly recommend going to Prestige Eyecare for all your eye care needs.
Update: The Doctor called back after researching my insurance benefits, and I will have no problems at the eye surgeons follow up visit. I found her to be very sweet and concerned for patient satisfaction hence max stars. Originally: The eye exam was great. I was not permitted to use my VSP benefits and that was why I picked them. Some sort of office policy means I can’t use the benefits that I just paid for because I made a web appointment and they never phoned for insurance 48 hours prior to the appointment and forced me to use Humana which I wanted to use at Key Whitman for surgical follow up. I regret not walking while the doctor was great because of the insurance policy rigidity, no offer to reschedule, or notice prior to the exam that I had to use the insurance that I wanted to save. And I called them and they said they took VSP! Just not from me.
