I had a great experience with the doctor and the staff at the very beginning. They treated me kindly. I spent $1000 on contacts. I made them aware of my work hours of 6am - 6:30 pm and let them know I desired to ship if that’s easier. They said they’ll accommodate me. I work in healthcare and have a strict job. I was on my way to pick up my contacts, knowing that I will be there at 6:57 pm (they close at 7pm). I called ahead of time and told them my ETA. They said to come. They called back and said they won’t stay open another minute past 7. I told them if anything, I needed just an extra 5 minutes after 7 pm to park real quick and walk in to be able to pick up my contacts. I was on my way, doing my best to get there asap. I basically begged so that I can pick up something I already paid a lot for. They completely refused, saying that they needed to get back home (which I completely understand, I want to get back home too and I am not owed anything). But a simple curtesy of 5 minutes is all I asked for. I never treated anyone and have never been treated in such a way in healthcare. I left my car outside, ran through the mall, and picked up my contacts. I am upset and disappointed that a place that has such a wonderful doctor and kind staff actually couldn’t grant me a simple courtesy of 5 minutes. Not to deter anyone from going, but just a reminder that this remains a business - regardless of the “health” services it provides.

After spending over $700 on eyeglasses, the lenses became very scratched up. They were at the point that I could not see clearly. I took the glasses back to Cohen at the mall only to be accused of scratching the glasses myself by the Manager in the store. I am not sure of the managers name but she is the older lady with blonde hair. She was extremely rude and very belligerent while talking to me. I told her that I have been wearing glasses for many years and never had a pair scratch up like this. She said that she would change the lenses for another $300 dollars. I said no, I would rather take my business elsewhere. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THE BUSINESS. MANAGER IS HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH AND VERY RUDE.

The customer service at this location is impeccable. Between Maya the manager, Sam and Vivi behind the counter and everyone else who works back there, they set a really high standard. If I could list everyone’s name, I would because everyone here is incredible and does an amazing job. They work with you, they help you and they do everything they can to make sure you leave a satisfied customer. I’m glad I found this place!

Everyone at Cohens Fashion Optical made me feel valued as a customer the day i met Susan, Evie and the optometrist. My union paid for the bulk of the cost of the progressive glasses and I am thrilled to have such good care taken of my sight.

We visited Cohen’s Fashion Optical (Staten Island Mall) today to get a pair of glasses using the insurance benefits. We arrived 10 minutes before the appointment. Two sales/ customer assistants were comfortably seated in the corner of the store. They took little notice of us as they were in a deep discussion. I approached them. With a kind of dislike in her tone, she asked why we came. Getting to know about my appointment she showed the other corner of the store and hurried back their conversation. The dude on the other side of the store was glued to a computer screen, busy tapping on a keyboard. Without raising his head asked what he could do in a tone unsuitable for customer service. With the appointment being mentioned he gave us two sets of forms to fill in and asked for the insurance card and driver's license. Perhaps they all had a bad day and were using it on the customers! Cutting the long story short. End of the eye exam, the fun part came. We were shown a limited selection of cheap plastic frames, which are widely available for $10 - $30 range on eBay and Amazon. They were pricing them for $700+ and kept adding a bi-focal lens charge of $200 and an antiglare charge of $200/-. They wanted us to pay $400 in total for a cheap frame. We were discouraged when we asked about the other frames in the display. They could have easily upsold us two pairs of frames if they treated us better. She was showing dislike all along. Perhaps she was not used to serving colored people. She got annoyed when we wanted to think about paying $800 in total for two pairs. She gave a sarcastic grin and bluntly said bye! I could see it was all about racism. On top of that, they were aiming to milk the insurance company and deep dive into our pockets for an additional $800/-. We pay for our insurance and are entitled to select the suitable frame. Well, it's too bad that we didn't fall for it. Please avoid Cohen’s Fashion Optical (Staten Island Mall).
